Mechanical seals and repair kits

In the cross section catalogue the mechanical seal occupies positions 36.00 and 72.00, the shaft sleeve 64.08 and the wear ring 14.54. Selection requires the pump type, the rating plate serial number and the position number.

  • Position 36.00 or 72.00 — mechanical seal.
  • Position 64.08 — shaft sleeve.
  • Position 81.00 — ball bearing.
  • Position 94.00 — capacitor.

IDROMAT, I-MAT, EASYMAT and SMAT controls

Electronic devices start the pump and protect it: pressure and flow sensing, check valve, dry running and overload protection. Selection follows motor power and the connection diagram.

  • IDROMAT: 0–10 bar gauge, G1 check valve.
  • I-MAT: variable speed drive, IE2 class.
  • EASYMAT: constant pressure control.
  • SMAT: dry running and overload protection.

Diffusers and diffuser assemblies

The diffuser occupies position 26.00, the final diffuser 26.01 and the suction ring 26.10. In multistage pumps the stage count sets the number of diffusers, so state the size and the number of stages in the enquiry.

  • Position 26.00 — stage diffuser.
  • 26.01 — final diffuser.
  • 26.10 — suction ring.
  • Diffuser count equals stage count.

Shafts, sleeves and bearings

The pump shaft is position 64.00, the shaft sleeve 64.08 and the bearings 63.00, 66.00 or 81.00 depending on the series. Shaft replacement is checked together with the sleeve, the keys and the bearing seats.

  • 64.00 — pump shaft, 64.08 — shaft sleeve.
  • 63.00 and 66.00 — impeller side and coupling side.
  • 81.00 — ball bearing.

Casing parts, covers and flanges

The pump casing is 14.00, the delivery casing 12.01 or 20.00, the lantern bracket 32.00 and the suction counterflange 13.00. Casing parts follow the port design, so the diameter and port type — threaded or flanged — matter.

  • 14.00 — pump casing.
  • 12.01 and 20.00 — delivery casing.
  • 32.00 — lantern bracket.
  • 13.00 — suction counterflange.

Booster sets and pressure boosting

MÈTA, E-MPS, E-MXP and E-NGX sets combine multistage or self priming pumps with a pressure transducer and a check valve. Selection needs the required head, the number of draw off points and the supply voltage.

  • GMV: free flow vortex impeller.
  • GEO tanks: 40, 230 and 500 litres.

Selecting Calpeda equipment

State the application, required flow, head, liquid temperature and power supply. Borehole and drainage duties also need the well or sump diameter, immersion depth and solids content.

Spare parts and wear parts

Mechanical seals, impellers, diffusers, shaft sleeves, bearings and casing parts are ordered by the pump type, the rating plate serial number and the position number in the cross section catalogue.

Replacement and repair

Replacing a seal, wear ring or impeller restores duty at a fraction of the cost of a new pump. We confirm which adjoining parts should be renewed with the worn item before the order is placed.

Reading the cross section

Each series cross section lists position numbers with their designations. Check both together: the same number may cover different parts between series, and one part may carry different numbers.

Single and double seals

Drainage and sewage pumps use two mechanical seals with an oil chamber between them; close coupled and multistage pumps use one. State the seal type and the ring materials when ordering.

Fitment confirmation

A part is matched by pump type, serial number and position number. When the serial number is unreadable, photographs of the rating plate, casing and assembly identify the series; written confirmation follows a full check.

Duty and starting conditions

For an installation in service, state whether the pump runs continuously or intermittently, which protection is fitted and how it is started. This separates wear from a setting problem.
