Source Adept Technology / Omron Adept robots and components for automation. Send the model or process requirements, payload, working area and equipment scope.
Adept robots, control and components
Compare eCobra SCARA, six-axis Viper and Quattro/Hornet parallel robots for the intended process. List controllers, pendants and peripherals as separate purchasing items.
eCobra SCARA robots
The eCobra family uses four axes and offers 600 or 800 mm reach with a maximum payload of 5.5 kg. Ethernet and EtherCAT versions should be distinguished in the enquiry. For equipment selection, describe the pick and placement points, the workpiece and the end effector.
Include the space available around the machine and the controller used by the production line. For an installed Cobra or eCobra, copy the full nameplate rather than treating the two designations as one configuration.
Viper 650 and 850 articulated robots
Viper robots provide six axes for applications requiring changes in tool or workpiece orientation. OMRON lists a reach of 653 mm for Viper 650 and 855 mm for Viper 850, with a maximum payload of 5 kg. Send a layout of the working area and the required tool positions.
Include the mass of the gripper and workpiece when describing the application. For a replacement assembly, identify the axis, robot designation and controller.
Quattro and Hornet parallel robots
Quattro and Hornet are parallel robot families used in repetitive handling and packaging applications. An equipment enquiry should describe the product, its presentation on the line and the destination positions.
Include the conveyor arrangement, the gripping method and the required production sequence. For parts, identify the exact robot and use its assembly drawing to mark the component. State whether the request concerns one individual part, a complete assembly or a set for several robots.
SmartController EX
SmartController EX identification should include the complete part number and the connected equipment. In the OMRON ordering table, 19200-000 identifies the controller, while 19300-000 refers to a package with the front panel. Specify which scope is required and list accessories separately.
For an existing cell, provide photographs of the controller label and connectors, together with the robot model and system documentation. For a new installation, explain the control architecture and the interfaces to the line.
T20 teaching pendant
The T20 teaching pendant is listed as 10046-010 with a 10 m cable. The 10051-003 adapter cable is 3 m, while 10079-000 identifies the mounting bracket. Distinguish these items in the purchasing list.
If replacing a pendant, send its label, connector photographs and the robot or controller designation. If preparing a complete robot package, state whether the pendant, adapter and bracket are all required.
Power and connection cables
Power and connection cables should be specified by part number, length and the connectors at both ends. The ordering information includes 04118-000 as a 5 m cable and 10356-10500 as a 3 m cable. Keep each designation attached to its own equipment documentation.
For a replacement, show the complete cable route and both connectors, including their labels. For a new cell, indicate the locations of the robot, controller and electrical cabinet.
IO Blox modules
IO Blox provides eight inputs and eight outputs. The ordering table distinguishes 90356-30200 and 90356-30100; the full designation is therefore needed when requesting a module or a set. The related 04677-030 and 04679-030 cables are listed with a length of 3 m.
Describe which external devices connect to the module and provide the existing connection diagram where available. For maintenance, photograph the installed block and connectors before compiling the enquiry.
Vision and conveyor tracking
A vision or conveyor-tracking request should explain the function to be implemented: locating a product, reading its position or following movement along a conveyor.
The official ordering information includes encoder 09742-001 with IP65 protection, cable 09443-000 at 3 m, cable 09446-050 at 5 m and AC1-152000 for a vision IPC. These are distinct purchasing positions. For an existing installation, send the current architecture, labels and connection drawings.
Mechanical assemblies
For a mechanical assembly, identify the robot axis and the exact position in the exploded drawing. Keep the drawing number, revision and callout together with the requested quantity. A photograph should show both the assembly in the robot and its identifying marks.
State whether you need an individual component, a complete assembly or the associated installation hardware. If the part has already been removed, include its original location and orientation.
Electronics and drives
Electronic units and drives need identification at both equipment and component level. Send the robot model, controller designation, board or drive label and the revision shown on the installed item. Photographs of connectors and mounting points support identification but do not replace the marking.
If there is an alarm, include the exact message and the operating stage when it appeared. Describe the requested purchasing item separately from the fault symptoms.
Earlier Adept generations
Adept Technology became part of OMRON in 2015. Earlier installed systems still need to be identified using their own labels and documentation. Do not shorten an old robot designation to the name of a current family when preparing a request.
Include the controller, pendant and software information available for the machine. If documents from several periods are available, mark which revision belongs to the installed equipment.
Identification without a part number
If the part number is missing, send clear photographs of the nameplate, the complete assembly and the connectors. Add the robot model, serial number and the page of the manual showing the position. Distinguish readable characters from uncertain ones instead of reconstructing a label by guesswork.
A photograph of an intact part on another identical machine can provide an additional reference. For several unknown items, number the photographs and use the same numbers in the request table.
Defining the robot cell scope
Define the robot cell as a list of separate items: robot, controller, teaching pendant, cables, gripping equipment and any additional input, output or vision components. State which items are already installed and which need to be supplied.
Attach the layout and identify the interfaces to adjacent machines. For a staged project, separate the initial equipment package from planned spare parts. Use one row per designation, configuration and quantity.
Selecting a robot for the process
Start with the process rather than a robot name alone. Describe the workpiece, its dimensions, the required tool orientation and the pick and placement positions. State the workpiece and gripper masses, working envelope, production sequence and installation constraints.
Compare a four-axis SCARA application with a six-axis task or a parallel handling application using those requirements. If a specific model has already been selected, attach the selection document and list any open configuration questions.
Checks before replacement
Before ordering a replacement, compare the complete designations, revisions, connectors and the scope of the original assembly. Keep the equipment manual and the installed label available during that comparison. A different suffix or accessory package should be recorded explicitly in the enquiry.
For controller or electronic-unit replacement, include the existing system configuration and the documentation available for restoration. For mechanical parts, preserve the drawing references and mounting information.
Incoming inspection and repeat orders
Agree the item list before shipment and use it again during incoming inspection. Check designations, quantities, labels and the accessories included with each assembly. Keep photographs of received items and their packaging alongside the purchasing specification.
For a repeat order, reference the previous agreed list and state what has changed, such as the quantity, robot configuration or delivery destination. If items are intended for different machines, keep their allocation visible.
Describe the sequence of operations, loading and unloading points, the workpiece and gripper mass, and the available working space. Attach a layout and the interfaces to adjacent machines. Identify existing controllers and peripherals that you plan to retain. If the robot has already been selected, send its full designation and specification. This provides a defined scope for the enquiry: robot, control equipment, pendant, cables and additional assemblies.
Parts for an installed system
Send the robot model and serial number, component part number, revision and label photograph. If the designation is unknown, attach a drawing with the position marked. Distinguish an individual part from an assembly and an accessory package. For several machines, identify the installation assigned to each item. Preserve the designation used in that machine’s own documentation, particularly when requesting components for earlier Adept generations.
Availability, price, lead time, condition, configuration, origin, certificates and warranty terms are agreed for the individual order. Official dealership and compatibility without checking the specific configuration are not claimed.
