Identifying GOFA vehicle models and equipment configurations
Every GOFA transport unit carries a chassis identification nameplate and a pressure vessel data plate. The chassis plate indicates the vehicle identification number (VIN), trailer model designation, date of manufacture, and maximum permissible weights.
The vessel plate states design and working pressures (PS), test pressure (PT), temperature limits (TS), and volume in liters.
To identify required parts or confirm equipment ratings, provide clear photographs of both nameplates. Include copies of the vessel passport or registration papers showing factory serial numbers.
These records, together with markings stamped on installed valves, allow verification of mechanical interfaces and valve types.
Avoid relying solely on general model names. Over years of manufacturing GOFA semi-trailers (such as cryogenic units GO849 or GO832), installed equipment varied, including flowmeter models (such as Flowcom units), cryogenic pumps, and piping dimensions.
Verification against vessel documents and component markings prevents ordering errors.
Required data for ordering GOFA replacement parts and assemblies
When preparing an inquiry for cabinet components, provide clear photographs of the installed part and its legible manufacturer markings.
For cryogenic valves (safety relief valves, pneumatic bottom valves, shutoff valves), record body stampings or nameplate data: nominal diameter (DN), nominal pressure (PN), service medium, and seal material codes.
If replacing a liquid transfer pump or drive motor, state the pump model, serial number, rotation direction, port sizes, and mechanical seal type. For instrumentation, pressure sensors, level gauges, and electronic controllers, provide power supply ratings, measurement ranges, and signal outputs.
If a part number is missing or worn, take dimensioned photos with a scale reference and indicate the component position on the piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID). Components are matched based on mounting dimensions, flange standards, and operating fluid parameters.
Drafting a technical specification for tank trailer procurement
When preparing requirements for a GOFA tank trailer, define core operating parameters: product transported (LIN, LOX, LAR, LNG, CO2, LH2, or ADR chemicals), gross vessel capacity, and maximum working pressure. State tractor fifth-wheel height, axle layout, and permissible road weight limits.
Define transfer requirements: specify whether an onboard pump is required (hydraulic PTO or electric motor), custody transfer metering system, automation control features, or pressure-transfer discharge using an onboard pressure building coil.
Specify structural materials, axle brand preferences, and electronic braking system (EBS) requirements. A finalized technical specification defines equipment configuration and delivery scope.
Process interfaces, cabinet space and system connections
When replacing process equipment on a tank trailer, verify mechanical connection interfaces and cabinet clearance. For piping, confirm flange standards (DIN, EN, or ANSI), nominal diameters, and bolt pattern dimensions. Misalignment can induce structural stress during cryogenic thermal contraction.
For pumps, verify suction and discharge port sizes, drive parameters (hydraulic supply flow and pressure or electrical ratings), and cooldown bypass lines. For instrumentation, verify cable gland specifications and terminal connections.
Installation work on pressure vessels and cryogenic lines must be carried out by qualified personnel in strict compliance with the equipment manufacturer operating manual and customer plant procedures.
Maintenance planning and statutory pressure vessel inspection
Operation of GOFA transport vessels requires adherence to maintenance schedules and statutory inspection procedures in accordance with the vessel passport, manufacturer manual, and applicable ADR regulations.
Inspection intervals and testing methods are governed by operating conditions and regulatory classifications for each pressure vessel.
Prepare spare parts requirements in advance: include valve seal sets, relief valve springs, rupture discs, filter cartridges, pump rebuild kits, and transfer hoses. For vacuum-insulated tankers, monitor vacuum levels and normal evaporation rates.
Maintaining required replacement components in plant inventory prior to scheduled maintenance minimizes vehicle downtime. In procurement planning, distinguish consumable service items from capital assemblies scheduled by operating hours.
Evaluating technical quotations and component verification
When reviewing a technical quotation, check each line item against your equipment requirements. Verify part numbers, operating ratings (pressure, temperature limits, fluid compatibility), scope of supply (mating flanges, fasteners, gaskets), and delivery schedules.
The scope of accompanying technical documentation (product data sheets, EN 10204 3.1 material certificates, conformity documentation) is agreed upon within the supply contract and quotation for each specific item.
Any proposed technical alternatives or superseded part numbers must be reviewed and approved by the customer technical authority. Confirming exact part specifications in advance ensures smooth receiving and mechanical fit.
Receiving inspection, storage and installation guidelines
Upon receipt of spare parts, perform standard receiving inspection. Verify packaging integrity, inspect items for physical damage, and check nameplate data against shipping documents. Cryogenic components are shipped with protective port covers to prevent contamination.
Prior to installation, review accompanying manufacturer instructions and documentation. Assembly, leak testing, and operational restart must proceed strictly according to plant operating procedures and the manufacturer manual for the specific equipment.
Cooldown and initial filling of cryogenic vessels must follow standard procedures to avoid thermal stress. We recommend logging all component replacements in the vehicle maintenance record for complete service traceability.
