DTI cutting heads and components for waterjet equipment

Specify DTI cutting heads, orifices, filters and nozzles for a waterjet installation. Send the application requirements, equipment interfaces or existing component designation.

dtiCORE diamond orifices

The orifice forms the water stream used for abrasive cutting or pure-water cutting. Specify a dtiCORE item by its bore size and mounting configuration, using the documentation for the installed cutting head.

  • Diamond orifice component
  • Standard bores .004–.018 inch
  • Record the part number and mounting dimensions
  • Attach a photograph of the installed component

tetraCORE diamond orifices

tetraCORE is a separate DTI family of diamond orifices. A replacement enquiry should preserve the specified bore and mounting geometry. The complete item designation distinguishes the component from other orifice families.

  • Cutting bores .005–.018 inch
  • Diamond working element
  • Match the designation with the drawing
  • Identify the head and installed configuration

Ruby and Sapphire orifices

DTI offers ruby and sapphire orifices for waterjet applications. State the material of the installed element, the bore size and the holder configuration. Keep the component details from the original specification alongside the enquiry.

  • Cutting bores .005–.018 inch
  • Ruby identifies the ruby element
  • Sapphire identifies the sapphire element
  • Give different materials separate enquiry lines

SLICE2 cutting head

SLICE2 is a DTI cutting head using a dtiCORE diamond orifice and P.A.C.T. alignment technology. Its slim, lightweight body is designed for multi-axis cutting. An enquiry should define the machine interfaces and required component scope.

  • Angled abrasive inlet
  • Abrasive inlet rotates through 360 degrees
  • Uses dtiCORE and P.A.C.T.
  • Specify the mounting and required components

Diamond Guard Filter

Diamond Guard Filter captures particles above 0.0055 inch, approximately 0.14 mm, and is installed close to the orifice. Provide the filter designation, water-supply diagram and adapter configuration for the enquiry.

  • Adapters for 1/4- and 3/8-inch lines
  • Provide the installed filter designation
  • Show its position in the water-supply assembly
  • Define the contents of the required set

  • Record the existing part number
  • Include the installation diagram

P.A.C.T. precision alignment

P.A.C.T. is a cartridge with a diamond orifice precisely aligned with the focusing-tube bore. Specify the cutting-head configuration, installed assembly components and mounting requirements from the equipment documentation.

  • Precision Alignment Technology
  • Diamond orifice in a cartridge
  • The focusing tube is a separate component
  • Identify the head and installed assembly scope

Identify the waterjet component

Start with the complete DTI part number or the item designation from the cutting-head specification. Attach an overall component photograph and a readable view of its marking.

When the plant uses internal stock numbers, include the original specification line showing the manufacturer and component name. Identify the machine and cutting head to which the requested component belongs.

For several installed heads, keep a separate enquiry line for each configuration. Show the component’s position in an assembly photograph and attach the available drawing. State the quantities and retain the original measurement units.

A coherent set of part numbers, photographs and mounting dimensions helps distinguish similar-looking orifices, holders, filters and complete head assemblies before an equipment specification is prepared.

Specify the bore and mounting geometry

The water-orifice bore and the outside dimensions of its mounting describe different features. Record them separately. Attach the holder information or mounting drawing, including the outside diameter, height, support surface and other dimensions specified for the installed head.

Keep the inch dimensions from the original documentation with their units, and attach any plant drawing prepared in millimetres as a separate document.

Give each bore size and mounting configuration a separate enquiry line and quantity. Show the retaining arrangement and the condition of the mating surface. If the assembly has been modified, identify the change on the current drawing.

For a new assembly, combine the component dimensions with the process specification, working pressure and cutting-head interfaces. This keeps the orifice and its installation in one defined equipment scope.

Choose an orifice material and family

dtiCORE uses single-crystal diamond, while tetraCORE uses DTI’s proprietary binderless laboratory-grown diamond material. Ruby and Sapphire identify the corundum material alternatives. State the installed family and the desired material in the enquiry.

When comparing several options, use the same bore and mounting requirements and give each proposed component its own line and quantity.

A previous purchasing specification can establish the complete designation, bore and holder configuration. For a new application, describe the cutting process and provide the water-supply assembly information.

If the enquiry concerns the plant’s replacement consumption, attach its maintenance records and actual operating conditions. Explain which feature is to change: material, orifice size, holder or complete head. This makes the comparison refer to specific items and a defined supply scope.

Define a SLICE2 cutting-head enquiry

SLICE2 combines a dtiCORE diamond orifice with P.A.C.T. alignment technology. Its angled abrasive inlet can rotate through 360 degrees, and the slim, lightweight body is intended for multi-axis cutting.

A head enquiry should state the mounting position, water connection, abrasive connection and installed machine interfaces, together with a list of components required in the assembly.

For replacement equipment, include the current head designation and assembly drawing. If only part of the assembly is required, mark those positions on the drawing and give their quantities separately.

For a new application, provide the intended cutting operation, available installation space and maintenance access. Distinguish a complete head from spare orifices, cartridges and other components so the specification shows how the equipment and maintenance items relate to each other.

Match the P.A.C.T. cartridge and focusing tube

P.A.C.T. aligns a diamond-orifice cartridge with the focusing-tube bore. The orifice assembly and focusing tube remain different components in an enquiry. Identify the installed head and cartridge designation, then attach the matching assembly drawing.

For a tube already fitted to the machine, record its marking and dimensions as information about the mating component.

If the plant requests several components at once, list the cartridge, orifice-related items and focusing tube in separate positions with their required quantities. An assembly photograph helps show the order and location of the parts.

For alignment-related work, include the technical requirement and the current head configuration. Changes made since an earlier procurement should be marked on the document version used for the new enquiry and retained alongside the corresponding part numbers.

Place Diamond Guard Filter in the water path

Diamond Guard Filter captures particles above 0.0055 inch, approximately 0.14 mm. DTI provides adapters for 1/4-inch and 3/8-inch high-pressure lines and places the filter close to the orifice. Identify the filter and adapter separately.

Attach the water-path drawing, the current fitting designation and photographs of the installation where the component will be replaced or added.

For a new head installation, include the plant’s water information, operating pressure and existing filtration arrangement as process requirements. For maintenance, list the filter and associated parts with the quantities needed in the service set.

Keep the connection dimensions and component identifiers together in the specification. When different heads use different configurations, split their enquiry lines so each adapter and filter remains linked to its actual water-supply assembly.

Specify blast nozzles and fantomJET

DTI’s Waterjet Blast Nozzles include sapphire and tetraCORE insert configurations for waterjet cleaning and material removal. The designation combines material, body style and size: TA identifies tetraCORE, SA identifies sapphire, and PL identifies a plug without an orifice.

Copy the complete installed designation and provide its connection drawing rather than reducing the enquiry to a material name.

fantomJET is a diamond fanjet for surface preparation and material removal, with a standard orifice range of .010–.055 inch. Describe the intended operation and attach the installation requirements for the existing assembly or new project. Keep different connection styles in separate lines.

A nozzle, a plug and a complete associated assembly should each have a clear item description and quantity so that the offer can be matched to the plant’s application and installation.

Prepare a custom head and supply specification

DTI offers custom cutting-head design, prototyping, testing and production. Describe the application, required installation and water-supply interface in the technical enquiry. For abrasive cutting, include the abrasive-feed arrangement.

List the components that must be supplied and identify equipment already available at the plant. Mounting drawings should show the interfaces, available space and access for servicing the resulting assembly.

Provide the delivery destination, required technical documents and a working contact for engineering questions. Retain one dated specification revision for the quotation so individual spares, assemblies and project equipment can be checked against the same agreed requirements.

Availability, price, lead time, compatibility and required documents are agreed for the specific enquiry. This page does not establish official dealership, authorised servicing or identical ratings for every configuration.
