Hypertherm
Hypertherm equipment for plasma cutting
SpareX helps define plasma system packages and components for industrial projects. We assess the power supply, torch and connections against your materials, process and installation requirements.
Powermax with Duramax torches
For an existing Powermax65/85/105 installation, identify the fitted Duramax torch and its consumable configuration before specifying replacement parts or a cartridge conversion.
- Duramax torches
- Hand, machine and robotic versions
- Nozzle, electrode, shield, cap and swirl ring
Powermax45/65/85/105 SYNC
Specify a Powermax SYNC system together with its SmartSYNC torch, process cartridge and connection package. Match the electrical version to the installation requirements.
- Powermax45 SYNC: 9–45 A
- Powermax65 SYNC: 20–65 A
- SmartSYNC torches and cartridges
XPR300 systems and components
Assess XPR300 for mechanized plasma cutting. Define the material, gas console and machine interface before agreeing the system package and process-specific consumables.
- XPR300 maximum current: 300 A
- Maximum output power: 66.5 kW
- Mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum
HPR400XD system configuration
Identify the HPR400XD torch and gas-control configuration. An HPRXD cartridge conversion needs its specified torch body, water tube and retaining cap.
- HPR400XD maximum current: 400 A
- Identify the installed torch
- HPR cartridge: body, tube and retaining cap
MAXPRO200 equipment package
Assess MAXPRO200 for intensive handheld or mechanized cutting and gouging. Agree the torch, utilities and connection package against the intended production task.
- MAXPRO200 maximum current: 200 A
- 100% duty cycle at 36.7 kW and 40 °C
- Handheld and mechanized cutting and gouging
SmartSYNC torch selection
Specify SmartSYNC as part of the Powermax45/65/85/105 SYNC package. Powermax45 XP use requires the indicated adapter; identify the torch version and lead length.
- Hand, machine and robotic options
- For Powermax45/65/85/105 SYNC
- Powermax45 XP: adapter required
Define the production task before the package
Start with the result your production area needs. List the materials, working thicknesses and typical workpieces. Distinguish routine production from occasional jobs, so a single maximum value does not stand in for the entire operating pattern.
A few representative drawings help establish what the system must do and which details need further discussion before a configuration is selected.
Describe the work format, including handheld cutting, a coordinated cutting table, a robotic cell or gouging. Add the intended sequence of operations and expected workload. For a replacement project, photographs of the existing workplace and a brief description of the current process are useful.
We use these inputs to connect the production requirement with an appropriate equipment family and identify the remaining engineering questions.
State whether you need an individual power supply, a defined set of components or a package for a new production area. Equipment selection and integration should have clear boundaries.
Each proposed item should have an identified function, so technical staff and procurement can compare the same scope.
Specify the Powermax system and torch together
A Powermax enquiry should identify the power supply and the required torch configuration together. For an installed system, retain its complete model designation, including SYNC where shown on the plate. Attach photographs of the current lead and connection when replacement is required.
For new equipment, list the desired package separately from the consumables needed to start operation.
If the same production area has different tasks, divide them by operation and workplace. Handheld use and installation on a machine require different supporting information. Describe equipment placement, the lead route and the required lead length.
For mechanized work, include machine documentation and control requirements so the enquiry covers the role of the power supply within the wider installation.
Mark which components will be new, which existing components will remain and which connections need review. Describe a change of torch or consumable platform explicitly. This keeps a modernization project distinct from a straightforward replacement request and makes the package easier to compare.
Machine integration and control interfaces
For an XPR300, HPR400XD or MAXPRO200 project, provide the machine designation, control system details and installed torch information. A connection diagram and a list of interfaces already in use help define the scope.
State whether the gas-control equipment, lead assemblies and other installation components will remain. The package should reflect the actual machine arrangement, rather than an assumed connection pattern.
Define the boundary between component supply and integration work. If your contractor will connect the equipment, include that contractor’s technical requirements in the brief. List required adapters, control leads and mounting components separately.
Photographs can clarify the starting condition, while the final connection scope should be checked against the selected equipment documentation and agreed with the responsible specialist.
For several similar production cells, establish a common base configuration and identify the differences at each location. Keep important designations in text beside the drawings. This helps engineering and purchasing preserve the same meaning when documents move between teams.
Electrical supply, gases and installation conditions
State the available electrical supply, phase arrangement and installation conditions. Include the plant’s connection requirements and the services available at the intended location. For a replacement power supply, photograph the electrical information on the identification plate.
The complete model and electrical version should be assessed together; a family name alone does not specify the installation configuration.
Describe the gas system in relation to the process and material. For an existing installation, include the console designation and available diagram. If another contractor will prepare the services, define that contractor’s responsibility.
The power supply, console, torch and connection scope should be agreed before the final equipment list is issued.
Include space restrictions and the route for moving equipment into position. A workplace plan is useful when integrating into an existing line.
Add access and lead-routing requirements to the technical brief, allowing the remaining configuration questions to be addressed before the package is finalized.
Modernization and components for installed equipment
For modernization, document the present installation and the intended change separately. Attach identification plates, the component list and available manuals. When the change concerns a torch or consumable platform, show the installed assembly as a whole.
The proposed arrangement should be understandable without reconstructing it from a list of removed items.
Submit a component enquiry as a separate schedule with part numbers, quantities and system allocation. When several machines are involved, retain the grouping by model.
Equipment and replacement components can be assessed within the same project, while their purposes and supporting data remain clear in the specification.
If only part of a manual is available, identify the item on the drawing and provide its designation in text. An HPRXD conversion to HPR cartridge uses the specified torch components as a defined set.
Additional items should be reviewed against the chosen assembly; a similar short description does not establish the complete modernization scope.
Packaging and export shipment preparation
Provide the destination country, city and agreed receiving point for the transport assessment. Describe unloading arrangements and packaging requirements. If the equipment will go to several locations, state the allocation by package.
Weight, dimensions and the number of packages should relate to the selected configuration, so transport planning follows the actual equipment scope.
List requirements for package identification, the packing list and accompanying documents in the project brief. For long lead assemblies or separately packed torches, clarify how these components should be allocated.
If another organization will receive the shipment, include its requirements for item identification and project references on the documentation.
Shipment terms and the division of responsibilities are agreed as part of the order. During equipment selection, we gather the inputs that affect those arrangements.
The receiver should be able to match each package to the agreed schedule and identify the production cell for which its components are intended.
Prepare a technical brief that purchasing can use
Choose equipment or components in the enquiry form and attach the technical brief. For equipment, describe the process and installation conditions. For a replacement item, identify the system and relevant markings. Divide a mixed enquiry into groups and preserve your item numbering.
Individual questions can then be resolved without changing the meaning of the overall request.
Include a technical contact who can confirm parameters and a contact for organizational questions. State the project reference and identify the documents to use for selection. Mark information that is still being confirmed directly in the brief.
We can then prepare focused questions about the proposed configuration and agree the boundary of the required package.
Before ordering, compare the resulting schedule with the initial production task. Check model, version, quantity, connections and included accessories.
Keeping this connection between the engineering requirement and purchasing specification is especially useful when different colleagues approve the equipment and its components.
