Identifying required LECO components and consumables
Begin with the instrument identification plate and factory part numbers printed on consumable boxes. Photograph the determinator nameplate to record the exact series, build year and combustion furnace revision.
For routine consumables (ceramic crucibles, graphite crucibles, tungsten accelerator, Anhydrone), identify the seven-digit part number (such as 528-018 or 501-171) in the operator manual or stock labels.
Differentiate consumable supplies from electro-mechanical instrument assemblies in your request. For example, a quartz combustion tube and a radio-frequency induction coil have distinct replacement intervals and sealing gaskets.
If documentation from previous procurement batches remains available, include it alongside current sample preparation protocols. Cross-referencing drawing numbers prevents ordering incorrect reagent particle sizing.
Selecting crucibles, accelerators and chemical absorbers
For CS844 and CS744 carbon/sulfur analyzers, maintaining ultra-low blank levels in ceramic crucibles is vital. We recommend original pre-ignited crucibles 528-018 to eliminate background carbon contamination.
When sourcing tungsten accelerator (501-171) and Lecocel tin accelerator (501-077), evaluate the matrix composition: cast iron, stainless steel, reactive titanium or refractory metals for complete sample oxidation.
For chemical gas purification columns, select anhydrous magnesium perchlorate (Anhydrone) of verified mesh size and Ascarite for carbon dioxide trapping. Routine absorbent renewal prevents moisture ingress into detection cells.
For ONH836 and ON736 gas analyzers, choose inner and outer graphite crucibles matched to targeted elements (oxygen, nitrogen or diffusible hydrogen) and impulse furnace upper electrode dimensions.
Sourcing furnace assemblies, combustion tubes and power tubes
High-frequency induction combustion furnaces require frequent inspection of quartz reaction tubes and inner protective shields. Micro-cracking or heavy metal condensates necessitate replacement to prevent RF arcing.
Oscillator power tubes (such as 771-354) must strictly match high-frequency generator power supply specifications. When replacing oscillator tubes, inspect socket contacts and cooling fan operational flow.
In impulse fusion furnaces, upper and lower compression electrodes endure extreme thermal duty. Upon contact surface erosion, electrodes should be renewed as a matched set with fresh elastomeric O-rings.
For pneumatic electrode clamping and automatic crucible loader systems, we supply pneumatic cylinders, directional solenoid valves and fluoroelastomer seals engineered for elevated furnace temperatures.
Sample preparation machinery and metallography consumables
For MSX205, MSX250 and MSX305 abrasive cutoff machines, select sectioning blades matching arbor diameter, outer wheel sizing and bond matrix (alumina for alloys, diamond for ceramics and carbides).
For PR4X and MX400 automatic mounting presses, we supply replacement cylinder liners, heating elements, thermocouple sensors and high-temperature release agents to prevent resin adhesion.
For GPX200 and GPX300 automated grinding/polishing platforms, sourcing covers magnetic backing platens, driving flat belts, fluid delivery hoses and power sample holder fixtures.
Peristaltic dispenser pumps for diamond suspensions and lubricants require routine flexible tubing renewal to preserve steady micro-dosing rates onto polishing cloths.
Technical comparison of analytical equipment proposals
When evaluating competitive quotations for LECO analytical systems and spare assemblies, compare complete part numbers, furnace options and auxiliary accessory scopes.
A bare determinator chassis and an integrated package including gas purifiers, high-purity regulators and calibration standards serve different facility goals.
For carbon and sulfur combustion instruments, differentiate the induction furnace enclosure, oxygen purification train, dust separation manifold and solid-state NDIR detection cells.
Confirm whether certified reference materials, starter crucible packs and tungsten accelerators are included in the scope.
For inert gas fusion analyzers determining oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen, verify carrier gas filtration, moisture traps and external recirculating chillers. Carrier gas purity directly determines background noise and lower detection limits for critical aerospace alloys.
If an engineering proposal outlines a furnace overhaul, define which pneumatic actuators, gas lines and electrical cables will be reused. Documenting retained components clarifies the boundary between consumable electrode replacement and full analytical overhaul.
When ordering consumables for metallographic sample preparation, establish workpiece hardness, microstructural sensitivity and specimen mount diameters. Specifying appropriate abrasive cutoff wheels and diamond suspensions prevents thermal burn and mechanical surface deformation.
Site receipt inspection and commissioning preparation
Designate a laboratory specialist to oversee incoming inspection, examine delicate quartz combustion glassware and verify serial numbers against factory shipping manifests. Retain specialized crate packaging until initial calibration verification is concluded.
For NDIR infrared detection cells and thermal conductivity detectors, verify pneumatic sealing, gold-coated optical chambers and the absence of moisture before powering internal preamplifiers.
When installing replacement control boards and microcontroller interfaces, cross-reference hardware revisions and firmware versions against existing workstation software. Consistent firmware versions prevent fieldbus communication dropouts.
Prior to energizing high-frequency induction oscillators, inspect cooling water circulation loops and chassis grounding connections. Insufficient cooling water flow triggers oscillator thermal overload and risks damaging power tubes.
Routine maintenance and analytical calibration procedures
To preserve analytical repeatability on CS844 and ONH836 determinators, conduct scheduled multipoint calibrations using certified matrix-matched reference standards. Regular replacement of metal dust filter cartridges eliminates gas flow restrictions and baseline drift.
Inspect impulse fusion electrodes for thermal erosion, graphite dust buildup and vacuum O-ring elasticity. Clean furnace bores with dedicated vacuum scrapers after running heavily alloyed powder or reactive metal samples.
LECO metallographic sectioning machines MSX and polishing systems GPX require periodic fluid level checks, coolant filtration cleaning and spindle seal inspection. Preventing abrasive particulate ingress extends motorized cross-feed mechanical longevity.
For TGA801 macro thermogravimetric analyzers, perform scheduled internal balance span calibrations using certified class balance weights. Store replacement crucibles, catalytic combustion reagents and chemical absorbers in climate-controlled laboratory storage.
We do not claim authorized distributor status, exclusive representation rights, or continuous warehouse stock across the entire LECO catalog. Pricing, lead times and payment milestones are determined per verified client project inquiry.
Certificates of analysis and factory quality certificates for chemical reagents are confirmed per specific production batch. Component compatibility is not warranted when using non-standard third-party machine modifications.
We do not publish fixed warehouse inventory lists for specialized mass spectrometers and optical emission instruments. All technical specifications and shipment scopes are finalized against the machine nameplate.
