Cytec Corporation switching systems

Select a Cytec system for your test installation: coaxial, relay, digital or high-voltage switching. Define mainframes, modules, control and connections together.

CXAR coaxial switching

CXAR systems route coaxial signals through modules installed in a mainframe. A replacement request should identify the CXR, CXG or CXS module, connector arrangement and the signal path used in the existing test rack.

  • Module options address 50 or 75 Ω signal paths.
  • Connector choices include BNC, SMA, Triax and Twinax, depending on the module.
  • CXR uses relays; CXG uses a tree arrangement; CXS uses solid-state switching.
  • Send the complete module marking, frequency range and connector photographs.

CXM microwave systems

CXM addresses microwave signal routing. A request can cover a complete configured mainframe or a relay module for an existing system; connector location and routing topology must be specified together.

  • The product range includes configurations from DC to 40 GHz.
  • The actual frequency limit belongs to the selected relay and signal path.
  • Define connector position, route count and the required switching arrangement.
  • For a replacement, send relay markings, photographs and a port diagram.

HXV high-voltage systems

HXV serves Hi-pot, insulation-resistance and high-voltage switching applications. Selection starts with the test signal, connection arrangement and switching sequence required by the test installation.

  • Configurations include a 1×N multiplexer or an N×M matrix.
  • Connection options include binding posts, shrouded banana connectors and SHV.
  • LAN, RS232 or GPIB control is selected with the system configuration.
  • Provide the mainframe model, module label and installation wiring diagram.

JX modular multiplexers

JX uses switch modules for automated test and data acquisition. Channel count alone is insufficient: the request should also describe jumpers, switched conductors and external connector wiring.

  • Modules support multiplexers, matrices and discrete switching points.
  • Single-pole and multi-pole arrangements address different measurement circuits.
  • Larger configurations depend on module interconnections and backplane wiring.
  • For replacement, identify the board, relay type and its position in the chassis.

LX general-purpose relay systems

LX is a modular switching platform for test installations. Mainframes, switch boards, control and display functions form the configured system; a service request should identify the affected assembly and its connections.

  • Available arrangements include matrix, multiplexer and discrete switching.
  • Front-panel LED indication shows the selected switching state.
  • Switch modules differ in relay type and measurement connector options.
  • Send the mainframe model, board designation and signal requirements.

VX general-purpose switching

VX supports general-purpose test systems. Module selection determines the signal characteristics and switching arrangement, so the family name should be accompanied by the complete installed board designation.

  • The range includes matrix, multiplexer and discrete configurations.
  • Switch indication is part of the relevant configured system.
  • Specify electrical signal levels, channel count and connector type.
  • A replacement request needs both the chassis and complete module code.

RJ physical-layer switching

RJ routes multi-wire circuits through RJ45 connectors. It addresses physical line switching in test and redundancy applications; define the connection map and conductors that must be switched.

  • Applications include LAN, WAN, DSL and cable-connection testing.
  • System arrangements include matrix, multiplexer and failsafe configurations.
  • The selected module depends on wire count and connector pin assignment.
  • Send a connection map and describe the required operating mode.

DXM digital matrices

DXM uses solid-state switching for differential digital signals. Specify the electrical standard, signal pairs and required data routing before choosing a complete matrix or a replacement assembly.

  • The range addresses LVDS, ECL, PECL, CML and RS422 applications.
  • Clock/Data arrangements and SpaceWire are included in the product catalogue.
  • Data rate and matrix size must be verified for the selected configuration.
  • Provide source and receiver diagrams, connectors and signal requirements.

CX coaxial matrices

CX addresses coaxial matrix switching. Describe the input and output count, connectors and impedance; a replacement request should also show the arrangement of the installed signal path.

  • The product range includes coaxial matrices using mechanical relays.
  • Individual configurations address 50 or 75 Ω applications.
  • Catalogue connector options include BNC, SMA, Triax and Twinax.
  • Specify matrix dimensions, full markings and external connection diagrams.

CXR Low Leakage measurement modules

CXR Low Leakage modules address low-current and high-resistance measurements. Replacement selection must account for connectors, shielding, guard connections and the requirements of the measuring instrument.

  • Relevant options include BNC, Triax and shrouded banana connections.
  • Triax and driven-guard arrangements apply to the specified measurement module.
  • Define channel topology, measurement requirements and shield connections.
  • Send the board label, measurement circuit and connector photographs.

Control and system expansion

Control selection connects the switching chassis to the test installation. Identify the installed controller, communication interface and linked expansion chassis before ordering an assembly or a configured system.

  • Cytec provides LAN, GPIB and serial control options.
  • MESA is used to control multiple expansion chassis.
  • Downloads includes IF-12 material, LabVIEW examples and programming samples.
  • For replacement, provide the controller label and test-software requirements.

Cables, bus bars and connectors

A cable, adapter or bus bar request should include its full designation and physical arrangement. Connector photographs support the markings, while a diagram shows the function of the connection within the test signal path.

  • CXAR documentation lists interconnection bus bars in the CXBS family.
  • Cable designations include CBL-BNC50 and CBL-BNC75.
  • SMA cable options use different connector combinations at their ends.
  • Specify length, both end connections, impedance and the assembly location.

Define the switching task

Cytec Corporation makes programmable switching systems for automated test, data acquisition and communications. Select a system by the signals and connections it must route.

An enquiry may concern a complete rack configuration, an additional chassis or individual assemblies used in an installed system.

Send a connection diagram and identify the instruments connected to each group of ports. State which paths operate together, which are selected sequentially and what should happen after power is removed. This makes the required topology clear before modules and control options are selected.

Mainframe and module identification

For an existing installation, photograph the mainframe label and the complete markings on the relevant boards. Include the front and rear connectors, module positions and any available configuration list. Letter suffixes and connector details are part of the identification information.

Explain whether the request covers one switch board, a controller, connecting cables or the assembled system. If several racks use similar modules, link each photograph to its own line in the enquiry. The resulting list can then be checked against the actual installed arrangement.

Signal requirements

For an analogue or coaxial path, describe the operating frequency range, signal levels and impedance. For a digital path, identify the electrical standard and signal pairs.

Low-current or high-resistance measurements also need information about shielding, guard connections and the measuring instrument.

List requirements separately for different circuit groups. A test rack can combine power, measurement and digital control paths, each with its own constraints. Provide the relevant specification or manual excerpt so that the chosen module can be checked against the intended application.

Relay type and connection arrangement

A relay-board enquiry should retain the complete part designation, including suffixes. Identify switched conductors, contact arrangement and external connectors. For a replacement in a mainframe, show how the module connects to the backplane and to the instruments under test.

Distinguish the current switched by a contact from the current carried through a closed contact. Isolation information also describes a separate aspect of the application.

Send the applicable manual section and operating requirements together; a shared family name alone does not specify the required relay assembly.

Cables and connector interfaces

A cable request needs its designation, length and both end connections. Include photographs of the contact arrangement and explain where it sits in the rack. For multi-wire circuits, a pin assignment diagram is more useful than a photograph of the connector housing alone.

For coaxial assemblies, state the impedance and identify the function of each port. List adapters and interconnecting bus bars alongside the main module.

This information lets the enquiry cover a coherent connection set and makes the proposed equipment and accessories easier to compare with the existing installation.

Control and test-software integration

Identify the interface used by the test software and the installed controller designation. Provide the command manual or relevant requirements from the application. A new system specification should describe the switching sequence and any state-feedback functions needed by the test process.

Cytec publishes programming examples and LabVIEW material through its download section. Use the documents appropriate to the selected controller and mainframe.

In the equipment list, distinguish switching hardware, control hardware and connection accessories so that the integration requirements remain visible during technical review.

Expansion and configuration completeness

List the assemblies already present before specifying an expansion. Include mainframes, switch modules, controllers and cables, and show the additional connections in a diagram. This separates equipment that can continue to be used from the new assemblies being requested.

For several linked mainframes, explain their physical arrangement and the intended control connection. Cytec provides MESA expansion solutions for suitable configurations.

The enquiry should identify the relevant families and include the required interconnections, allowing the complete equipment list to be reviewed as one system.

Availability, price, lead time and required documents are checked for each enquiry. This page does not establish official dealer status. Compatibility is assessed against the complete assembly designation and system configuration.
