Specify cable run lengths, number of connected helm stations, NMEA 0183/2000 translation gateway needs and SAE J1939 engine bus integration.
For quotation: model, vessel specifications, configuration and quantity.
Equipment selection inputs
Vessel type and displacement, hull construction material, DC voltage, navigation scope and helm station repeater requirements.
Components for installed systems
Instrument model and serial number, part number from equipment schedule, connector pinouts and required RayNet/SeaTalk cable lengths.
Identifying generation and network architecture
Raymarine develops and manufactures integrated navigation suites and marine electronics for cruising yachts, commercial vessels and fishing craft. To ensure component compatibility, record the exact model designation and serial number from the manufacturer rating plate.
Axiom multifunction displays, Quantum radar scanners and Evolution autopilots feature various hardware revisions differing in interface bus standards and internal sonar circuitry. If the label is illegible, provide clear photographs of the front panel and rear connectors.
Specifications for new vessel outfitting
When designing an integrated navigation system for a new vessel, state overall hull dimensions, hull material (aluminum alloy, composite fiberglass or steel), cruising area and the layout of helm stations.
Outline the required equipment package: display count across bridge and flybridge stations, radar scanner output, sonar sounding depth targets and propulsion data gateway needs.
An integrated approach enables an optimized SeaTalkng network and high-speed RayNet backbone configuration without redundant hardware converters.
Replacing components on existing vessels
For scheduled maintenance or emergency component replacement on an in-service vessel, send the original part number from the failed unit along with onboard wiring schematics.
State DC supply voltage (12 V or 24 V), steering ram volume for autopilot pump integration and transducer pinout configurations.
If an older instrument is discontinued, we specify a fully compatible current generation replacement or supply certified protocol gateways to retain existing vessel cabling.
Selecting acoustic transducers and sonars
Echo sounder transducers are chosen according to hull construction material, bottom deadrise angle and desired acoustic sounding frequencies. Metallic hulls require stainless steel housings or bronze transducers with non-conductive isolation sleeves to avoid galvanic reaction.
Bronze thru-hull transducers featuring internal 0°, 12° or 20° acoustic element tilt angles deliver vertical beam orientation without external hydrodynamic fairing blocks on planing hulls.
Integrating Solid-State CHIRP radar systems
Radar selection involves scanner mounting height above the waterline, windage loading and required target discrimination range. Quantum 2 enclosed radomes featuring Doppler target processing are suitable for performance motor yachts and sailboats due to minimal top-weight and low power consumption.
Cyclone open-array scanners are engineered for commercial vessels and fast offshore interceptors demanding high angular resolution and target separation in heavy sea clutter.
Evolution autopilots and steering drives
Autopilot systems are configured based on vessel full displacement and primary steering gear architecture. The EV-1 nine-axis solid-state sensor core monitors pitch, roll and yaw, delivering heading telemetry to the ACU course computer at 10 Hz.
5, Type 1 or Type 2) must match steering cylinder volume to achieve proper hard-over to hard-over rudder response times.
SeaTalkng backbone and high-speed bus
The SeaTalkng network infrastructure is engineered on the NMEA 2000 industrial bus standard utilizing shielded twisted-pair cabling and waterproof bayonet-lock connectors.
To maintain bus signal integrity, the total backbone length must not exceed 100 meters, with individual spur drops kept below 6 meters. Dedicated 120-ohm terminating resistors must be installed at both ends of the backbone to prevent data reflections and packet corruption.
VHF communication, AIS transponders and safety
Marine VHF communications equipment and Automatic Identification System transponders ensure compliance with international coastal and offshore navigation safety standards.
Raymarine fixed-mount radios incorporate internal multi-constellation satellite receivers and Class D Digital Selective Calling controllers for emergency alerts. AIS700 Class B transceivers broadcast vessel telemetry and project collision risks onto helm displays.
Scope agreement and technical verification
Equipment scope, mounting brackets, cable assemblies and technical documentation are verified for each project upon receipt of specifications. Hardware revisions and protocol compatibility with existing onboard networks are confirmed prior to order placement.
Delivery schedules and commercial terms are calculated based on confirmed technical briefs.
