SEALING TECHNOLOGY FOR PUMPS, AGITATORS AND COMPRESSORS
EagleBurgmann industrial seals and supply systems
Source EagleBurgmann equipment: mechanical seals for pumps M7N, M74-D and H7N, elastomer and metal bellows seals MG9, eMG and MFL85N, cartridge seals Cartex, eCartex, Mtex and Splitex, agitator seals M481K and M461K, compressor seals PDGS, CobaSeal, CobaDGS, B800 and WRS, the API 682 range, Espey carbon floating ring seals and magnetic couplings, supply systems, expansion joints, packings and gaskets. Describe the machine, the assembly and the operating conditions; for a replacement send the size or the complete nameplate designation, because a series is selected by the seal chamber and the process data rather than by the pump brand. Spare parts and DIN 24250 part lists are quoted as separate line items.

Data for a specific configuration is verified against the manufacturer documentation.
EagleBurgmann: industrial seals and supply systems
EagleBurgmann Germany GmbH & Co. KG (Wolfratshausen, Germany) manufactures industrial sealing technology: mechanical seals and the supply systems that go with them, carbon floating ring seals, magnetic couplings, expansion joints, gaskets and packings, special products and services. The official catalogue lists 329 product entries - 110 mechanical seals, 49 supply systems, 88 gaskets and packings and a 36-entry API 682 range. The brand has no official representation, distribution or partner programme for Russia and the CIS: the Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan portals return 404, no Russian version of the website exists, and Russia is not among the nine DGS centres of competence. Equipment and spare parts are therefore sourced to order: we match an item against the manufacturer documentation and quote it for a specific request.
To select equipment, describe the machine, the assembly and the operating conditions. For a replacement, provide the size or the complete nameplate designation.
Mechanical seals for pumps: M7N, M74-D, H7N, MG, Cartex
For pumps EagleBurgmann builds several families of mechanical seals. Pusher seals: M7N and M74-D for plain shafts and H7N for stepped shafts, rated to 25 and 80 bar respectively. Elastomer bellows seals: MG9 and the eMG family, with the manufacturer statement 100 % compatible with MG1 / MG12 / MG13 published on the eMG1, eMG12 and eMG13 pages. Metal bellows seals: MFL85N and MF95N for extreme temperatures from -40 to +220 C. Cartridge seals: Cartex, Cartex ANSI, eCartex, Mtex and Unitex, the fully split Splitex that is fitted without dismantling the pump, and the high-pressure SHV with static pressure up to 240 bar. The manufacturer does not build pumps: it supplies the seals, so selection follows the seal chamber and the process conditions rather than the pump brand.
Selection requires the shaft diameter d1, the fitting length to EN 12756 (IS, l, l1k, l1N), the medium and the operating data. State the size and the material code in full.
Cartridge seals are supplied as a pre-assembled, tested unit: they need no modification of the seal chamber and do not damage the shaft with a dynamically loaded O-ring. Cartex comes in single and dual versions for d1 = 25-100 mm at -40 to +220 C; the limits depend on the face material combination - with BQ1 they are 25 bar and 16 m/s, with Q1Q1 or U2Q1 they are 12 bar and 10 m/s for the single seal and 20 bar and 10 m/s for the dual seal. The dual version is double pressure balanced, has an integrated pumping device, accepts a barrier pressure p3 up to 25 bar and works with a recommended differential of 2-3 bar. Variants: -SNO for dead-end operation, -SN with flush, -QN with quench, -TN with a throttle ring, -ABPN for ANSI pumps, -Vario for eccentric screw pumps from Seepex, Netzsch, Allweiler, Moyno and Mono, and the gas-lubricated -GSDN. Splitex is a fully split seal in 2x2 segments with a mechanical wear indicator, fitted without dismantling the pump.
Give the complete variant designation: the suffixes -SNO, -SN, -QN, -TN, -ABPN, -Vario and -GSDN mean different assemblies and different pressure limits.
Bellows seals have no dynamically loaded O-ring on the shaft, so they suit contaminated media, aggressive chemicals and extreme temperatures. Elastomer versions: MG9 (d1 = 10-100 mm, 12 bar, -20 to +140 C) and the current eMG family - eMG1 at d1 = 14-110 mm, eMG12 at 14-100 mm and eMG13 at 16-60 mm, all at 18 bar, -20 to +140 C, 10 m/s and plus or minus 2.0 mm axial movement. The eMG series differ only in the fitting length to EN 12756: eMG is IS, eMG1 is l, eMG12 is l1k and eMG13 is l1N in combination with seat G6 or G60. The metal bellows seals MFL85N and MF95N are rated for -40 to +220 C and 20 m/s: MFL85N handles up to 25 bar external pressure and MF95N up to 16 bar. The bellows is made of Inconel 718 (M6) or Hastelloy C-276 (M5).
On the eMG1, eMG12 and eMG13 pages the manufacturer states compatibility with the discontinued MG1, MG12 and MG13 series. Check the fitting length and the bellows material when replacing.
For top-entry agitator drives EagleBurgmann builds the liquid-lubricated dual seals M481K and M461K. Both are supplied as a ready-to-fit cartridge, close on the product side and stay closed under pressure variation or reversal; they can run with a buffer fluid or with a pressurised barrier fluid. M481K covers d1 = 40-220 mm, pressure from vacuum to 16 bar, p3 up to 18 bar, temperature from -40 to +200 C (up to 350 C with a cooling flange) and a sliding velocity of 0-5 m/s. M461K is designed for glass-lined vessels: d1 = 40-160 mm, temperature up to 200 C (250 C with a cooling flange), lifted off the flange as a complete cartridge while the glass-lined base flange stays on the vessel. Standards include FDA, ATEX and DIN 28138; options cover a cooling or heating flange, leakage drain, flush, polymerisation barrier, axial expansion joint and a wiper ring.
Confirm separately whether an integrated bearing version is needed (M481KL, M461KL-D) and which options apply, because they change the connection dimensions.
The compressor range splits into gas-lubricated and oil-lubricated seals. PDGS is a gas-lubricated, elastomer-free seal supplied as a ready-to-fit cartridge in single, dual, tandem and tandem-with-intermediate-labyrinth versions: D = 24.5-360 mm, pressure up to 650 bar, temperature from -200 to +230 C, sliding velocity up to 227 m/s, with NACE and API 617 compliance and TA Luft compliance for the dual and tandem versions. Versions: PDGS10 up to 220 bar static, PDGS15 for cryogenic media down to -200 C and PDGS51 for extreme pressures up to 650 bar. CobaSeal is a gas-lubricated separation seal of double-row coaxial design with just one pair of faces, D = 27.2-323.2 mm, design pressure up to 70 bar, to NACE and API 692; the faces are silicon carbide and the shaft sleeve carries an iDLC coating. CobaDGS is described by the manufacturer as a zero-emission solution, while B800 and WRS are the oil-lubricated series.
The manufacturer provides dimensions on request, so selection needs a drawing of the seal location or the nameplate designation together with the gas data.
API 682 4th edition range and the high-pressure SHV
The manufacturer puts API 682 into a separate catalogue range of 36 entries, where each series is identified by category, type and arrangement: APItex-S as Category 1, Type A, Arrangement 1; APItex-T as Arrangement 2 or 3; H75A4-B as Category 2 and 3, Type A, Arrangement 3. The range includes CGSH-KD, H75A4-C, H75A4-T, H75LG4-C, H75VA4-S, HRGS-DD, LEK777, LL9DJUE, LL9DJUU, LL9DKUU, LL9DSUU, LL9DTUE and LL9DTUU, plus the systems QFT6, TSA6, SPB6, SPC6, SPP6, SPT6, SPX6, WEF6, WEL6, ZY6, GSS6000, GSS6001, LSA6, LSB6 and LSC6. The high-pressure SHV comes in a compact cartridge: d1 = 20-200 mm, temperature from -40 to +380 C, sliding velocity up to 50 m/s, dynamic pressure 100 bar and static pressure 240 bar with plus or minus 3.0 mm axial movement; it follows API 682 / ISO 21049 and the SHV-D version complies with TA Luft.
State the API 682 category, type and arrangement plus the piping plan: for SHV-S the manufacturer lists plans 11 to 65B and for SHV-D plans 01 to 65B.
Espey carbon floating ring seals and magnetic couplings
Espey is a line of carbon floating ring seals for shafts and housings that must run dry with minimal leakage. The cartridge-type Espey WKA3 is only 8.4 mm long axially and uses standardised dimensions; the chamber seals WKA300, WKA400HD, WKA700, WKA802HD, WKA1100HP and WKA1200 follow a modular design and can be combined in any order, optionally with a housing and cover. The split WD200, WD200 BHS, WD200/500 and WD500 use multi-part rings with a radial cut and a split housing; Magna500+ uses segmented self-adjusting rings for diameters from 500 mm. WDB200 shaft sleeves transmit torque through a set screw or a shrink fit and carry a metallic coating. The magnetic couplings MAK66, MAK685, RMAK, SMAK, eMAK, NMB High Efficiency and SensoCan provide a hermetic design for pumps, agitators and aerators; SensoCan is an additively manufactured containment shell with heating and cooling channels rated to 40 bar. Plain bearings are covered by the LMF1 series.
Selection needs the shaft diameter, speed, pressure and the permitted leakage; for split series confirm whether the seal can be fitted without dismantling the assembly.
Supply systems feed a dual or tandem seal with barrier or buffer fluid, remove heat and make leakage measurable. The manufacturer catalogue lists 49 entries. Reservoirs: QFT1000, QFT2000, QFT3000 and QFT6000 for single and tandem seals; QFT2000 is a 3 litre 1.4571 stainless steel tank with an integrated overflow and MIN and MAX sight glasses that works by the thermosiphon principle or by forced circulation. Thermosiphons: TS1000, TS3000, TS3016, TSA2 and TSA6. Barrier and buffer systems: SPA, SPB (Plan 53B), SPC (Plan 53C) and NonFlow. Gas systems: GSS, GSS6000, GSS6001, RoTechBooster and SMS. In addition there are the DHE, DRE and VTE units, the heat exchangers WDK, WE6, WED, WED5, WEF6, WEL1, WEL2-WEL6 and WEL5, the circulation pumps eSPU6 and SPU, the LS050 leakage collection units (Plan 65 and 75), the MFU and BestFlow flush units, the MAA, MAF2001, MAF203 and ZY separators and filters, the SP23, SPI, SPK, SPL and SPS instruments and the SPN manual and SPN Automatic pumps.
Selecting a system requires the API plan, the barrier fluid pressure and flow, the seal heat load and the mounting position relative to the pump axis.
EagleBurgmann expansion joints come in three groups, 25 entries in total. The metal AN type is a tied expansion joint: the pressure thrust from internal pressure is taken by the hardware, so no anchor points are needed; the range covers DN 40-1600, temperatures up to 700 C and pressures up to 50 bar gauge, designed to EJMA 9 and PED 97/23/EC using EN 13480, EN 13445, EN 14917, AD2000 and ASME B31.3. Versions are AN1 (hinged, single-plane angular movement) and AN2 (gimbal, multi-plane movement). Rubber type D covers DN 25-750, pressures up to 16 bar, temperatures up to 110 C and movement in all directions; the bellows is available in EPDM, EPDM Food Grade, Neoprene, Nitrile, Hypalon or Viton with carbon steel or stainless steel flanges, including double-arch and PTFE-lined versions. Fabric joints Fluaflex, Fluachem, Fluastal, KE-Flex, Flexgen, Combine-X, Acouseal, Thermoflex and Plug-Run are used to absorb vibration and reduce noise transmission.
Selection requires the DN, pressure, temperature, movement type (axial, lateral, angular), medium, flange material and whether anchors and guides are installed.
Packings and gaskets: Thermoflon, Araflon, Statotherm, Spiraltherm
Packings and gaskets form the second largest group in the catalogue with 88 entries. Thermoflon 6230 is a diagonally braided packing made of 100 % genuine GFO yarn (graphite-incorporated PTFE) rated from -200 to +280 C with chemical resistance from pH 0 to 14; the limits depend on the equipment: pumps 25 bar and 25 m/s, valves 100 bar and 2 m/s and plunger pumps 250 bar and 2 m/s. Araflon 6426 is aramid fibre (Kevlar) with PTFE impregnation, rated from -100 to +250 C at pH 2-12, with a recommended shaft surface hardness of 40-60 HRc. Both packings are supplied by length, as blank cuts and as pre-compressed rings, and the box weight depends on the cross-section. Pump packings also include Buraflon 5846, Buraflex HT 2000/HT, BuraTex B 4001, R 4002 and W 4003, BuraSoft 6225/L, Buramex SF 6335, Kombipack 6065, Supraflon 6435 and Spezial-Kombi K1/K2 6430. Gaskets: Statotherm graphite sheets, Spiraltherm spiral-wound gaskets (graphite 9584 and 9594, PTFE 9595, mica 9596), Corrachem 9631/T and Corratherm 9631/P corrugated gaskets, Kammprofile 9598 and Camprofile 9588 serrated gaskets, Buralloy 2961 and 2500 ring joints and KH and KN 9107 and 9117.
State the cross-section, the equipment type (pump, valve, plunger pump, agitator), the medium, the pH and the temperature. Oxidising media are not permitted with Thermoflon 6230.
EagleBurgmann service programmes are grouped under TotalSealCare: consulting and engineering, technical analysis and support, maintenance, seminars and training, inventory management and field service, including for products from other manufacturers. The manufacturer also describes the Bad Actor Program (analysing critical seal locations), the Repair Class Program, the Primary Source Program, the Fixed Fee Program and the Individual Program. DGS centres of competence assemble, overhaul, repair and acceptance-test dry gas seals on static test benches; they are located in Germany, Japan, the United States, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, India, China, Mexico and South Africa. There is no such centre in Russia, so repair by the manufacturer on Russian territory is not confirmed - the scope here is selection, supply and on-site rebuild of spare parts.
For a rebuild, send a nameplate photo, the marking on the seat and housing, the operating hours and the failure pattern: leakage, vibration, overheating or face damage.
DIN 24250 part lists: seal faces, seats, O-rings, springs, bellows
The manufacturer publishes part lists with DIN 24250 item numbers for seven series: M7N, M74-D, H7N, MG9, MFL85N, MF95N and SHV. Item 472 is the seal face (M74-D has two, 472.1 and 472.2, and in the metal bellows series the face is combined with the bellows unit as 472/481), 475 is the seat (G16 on MF95N and two G9 seats on M74-D), 412.1, 412.2, 412.3 and 412.4 are O-rings, 477 is the spring, 481 the bellows, 485 the drive collar, 474 the thrust ring or washer, 484.1 the L-ring and 904 the set screw. Materials carry code letters: silicon carbide Q1, Q2, Q6 and Q12 (eSiC-Q7 on the eMG series), carbon graphite antimony impregnated (A) or resin impregnated (B), tungsten carbide U2 and U3, aluminium oxide (V), CrMo cast steel (S), and secondary seals EPDM (E), FKM (V), FFKM (K), NBR (P) and HNBR (X4). Seat alternatives to EN 12756 are G4, G6, G9, G13 and G16. These are DIN item numbers and DIN part numbers, not EagleBurgmann order numbers: a size and a material code are also required.
Give the series, the size (shaft diameter d1), the DIN 24250 item number and the material code, and the item is uniquely identified.
Supply system components: QFT2000, SPS2000, DHE, heat exchangers, instruments
Supply system components are the only part of the EagleBurgmann range with true order numbers, so they are ordered directly by number. For the QFT2000 reservoir the manufacturer lists the versions QFT2000-00, QFT2000/A001, /A002, /A500, /A501 and /A502, and offers the level switches SPS2000/A051-00 (MIN), SPS2000/A052-00 (MAX) and SPS2000/A053-00 (MIN and MAX) as an alternative to the sight glass. The DHE accumulator consists of an accumulator, a pressure gauge with a shut-off valve and a check valve, and is retrofitted to SPA1000, SPA2000 and SPA3000 systems with conversion kit DHE140/R001-00. Also available are the DRE pressure control unit, the VTE distribution unit, the heat exchangers WDK, WE6, WED, WED5, WEF6, WEL1, WEL2-WEL6 and WEL5, the eSPU6 and SPU circulation pumps, MAA magnetic separators, MAF2001 and MAF203 magnetic filters, ZY cyclone separators, SP23, SPI, SPK, SPL and SPS instruments and the SPN manual and SPN Automatic pumps.
Order by the full number: QFT2000/A501, SPS2000/A053-00, DHE140/R001-00. Also state the temperature version and the connection type (G 1/2 or 1/2 NPT).
State the equipment type and make: pump, agitator or reactor, compressor or vessel. Give the shaft diameter d1 at the seal and the fitting dimensions: chamber length to EN 12756 (IS, l, l1k or l1N), housing bore diameter, and shaft sleeve diameter and length. Describe the pumped medium with its concentration, abrasive content and solids fraction, then the operating data: suction and discharge pressure, temperature, rotational speed or surface speed, and the direction of rotation. Add the duty - continuous or intermittent, with flush or quench, with barrier or buffer fluid. If the designation of the installed seal is legible, copy it in full together with the material code and the DIN 24250 item number. For expansion joints state the DN, pressure, temperature, movement type and whether anchors are installed.
Replacement and spare parts
For a replacement send the complete size and material code: for seals this is the series, the shaft diameter d1 and the variant designation, such as the suffixes -SNO, -SN, -QN, -TN, -ABPN or -Vario and -GSDN on Cartex. Parts are ordered as separate line items from the DIN 24250 part list: seal face 472, seat 475, O-rings 412.1 to 412.4, spring 477, bellows 481, drive collar 485, thrust ring 474, L-ring 484.1 and set screw 904. These are DIN item numbers and DIN part numbers, not order numbers: a size and a material code are required, for example silicon carbide Q1 or FKM V. True order numbers exist only for supply system components: QFT2000/A001 to A502, level switches SPS2000/A051-00 to A053-00 and conversion kit DHE140/R001-00. When a seal face is worn, send a photo: the failure pattern helps us confirm the cause and the material.
Send a seal size or a description of the assembly
Include quantity and delivery city, and attach a nameplate photo, the designation from the housing or seat, a drawing of the seal location or a description of the task. This is used to confirm the configuration against the manufacturer documentation and quote the supply.
