Thermbond refractory materials
We source Thermbond materials (USA, Alkegen) for your furnace, ladle or boiler: two-part Formula Series, water-mixed 7200 and 7000 Series, Thermbrake and Heatbrake insulating products, Thermblock precast shapes and Insulating Solutions. We also handle inquiries for installation equipment and complete furnaces; new or used is a selection preference, not a stock claim.
Formula Series: dry mix + liquid activator
The core line: dry formulation and liquid activator in pre-measured units (red labels). Fast exothermic set; the manufacturer states linear heat-up rates of about 500 °F per hour are achievable (schedule depends on lining thickness), mixing 45 seconds to 2 minutes per the guide; never mix with water. Suffixes: L and E — longer working time, R — rammable, G — gunnable, P — patch mix, A — abrasion resistant, B — with poly fibers, W — washcoat. Application reports mention Formula 3-E, 4-E, 5-E, 2104-L, 6-L, 12-L, 16-L and 15-R.
Manufacturer documentation7200 Series: 7204, 7206, 7229
Third-generation water-based hybrid-bonded monolithics: one bag for casting, pumping, ramming, gunning, shotcrete and hand packing. 7204: density 2.95 g/cm³, abrasion loss 3.1–3.5 cc at 1500 °F, hot MOR 4500 psi at 1500 °F, setting under one hour, firing about 100 °F per hour. 7206 is a 60 % alumina castable, 7229 a 50 % alumina castable with 20 % SiC; N versions suit aluminum metal contact. For 7206 and 7229: casting water 4.5–5.5 %, leave undisturbed 10–12 hours. Aluminum furnace zones: sills, lintels, doors, hearths, side walls, ramps, roofs.
Manufacturer documentationThermbrake, Heatbrake, 7000 and Concrete Series
Thermbrake (blue labels) and Heatbrake (yellow) are lightweight two-part insulating products for back-up linings; Heatbrake where volume stability at higher temperature matters. 7000 Series (green) are dense water-mixed products for full-thickness linings and precast, 55 lb bags, 12-month shelf life (7000-CS: 6 months). Concrete Series (purple) are fast-setting mixes for ambient or intermittently heated concrete areas.
Manufacturer documentationThermblock precast shapes
Engineered shapes cast from Thermbond products by certified pre-casters: air blaster, damper and butterfly damper, feed shelf, ladle cover, rotary kiln nose ring. Send a drawing with dimensions, the unit type, operating temperature and the attachment method.
Manufacturer documentationInsulating Solutions: Saffil 72+ and Thermbolts
Insulating systems built on Saffil 72+ polycrystalline fiber with the Thermbolts anchoring system, which secures blankets to damaged areas without removing the deteriorated lining. Applications: ladle covers, furnace doors, hanging curtains, filter box lids, roofs and panels in aluminum, steel, hydrocarbon processing and power generation.
Manufacturer documentationApplications by industry
Per manufacturer application reports: aluminum melting and tower furnaces, chip melters; tundishes, ladle lip rings and reheat furnaces in steel; quench headers (Formula 16-L); FCCU regenerator cyclones (Formula 12-L in hex mesh) and sulfur recovery units; circulating fluidized bed boilers; rotary kiln nose rings.
Manufacturer documentationWhat to include in your inquiry
Grade with suffix (e.g. Formula 5-L, 7206-N, Thermbrake 403-G), number of units or placement volume, installation method, unit type and lining zone, operating temperature, delivery destination. For precast shapes, a dimensioned drawing. If the grade is unknown, a photo of the bag or jug label.
The parameters above describe material families per manufacturer documentation. Availability, price, lead time and completeness of a specific lot are confirmed during selection. Storage per documentation: dry, 0–37.7 °C; shelf life two years for Formula, Thermbrake and Heatbrake, 12 months for 7000 Series, six months for 7200 Series.
