EVE traction cells, modules and battery systems

Source EVE traction cells, modules and battery systems for vehicles and equipment against project documentation. Provide a nameplate, approved specification or requirements for a new system.

Prismatic LFP cells

Lithium iron phosphate cells for transport and industrial applications. The battery design determines the variant; chemistry and external dimensions alone do not establish interchangeability.

  • Prismatic construction
  • Passenger and commercial vehicles
  • Construction machinery
  • Electric vessels

Prismatic NCM cells

Nickel cobalt manganese chemistry in a prismatic aluminium housing. Selection considers the vehicle electrical architecture, thermal requirements and the intended module design.

  • Aluminium housing
  • Battery electric vehicles
  • PHEV and HEV applications
  • Project specific 48 V systems

NCM pouch cells

Cells in a flexible aluminium polymer package. They are considered together with mechanical support, electrical connections and the thermal design of the module.

  • Flexible package
  • Laminated construction
  • BEV applications
  • PHEV applications

EV cylindrical cells

EV-Cylindrical Cell is a dedicated traction product group. It is distinct from the smaller cylindrical rechargeable cells intended for tools and consumer electronics.

  • Traction applications
  • Cylindrical construction
  • Battery platform development
  • Documentation based approval

Battery modules

A module combines cells with the associated structural features. EVE describes integrated liquid cooling; compatibility is reviewed for the particular battery system.

  • Cells within an assembly
  • Temperature management
  • Liquid cooling
  • Nameplate based identification

Battery management systems

BMS is considered part of the battery project. Hardware version, interfaces, configuration and integration with the vehicle controller are relevant to replacement and new designs.

  • Battery system management
  • ISO26262 and ASPICE processes
  • Model based software development
  • AUTOSAR integration

Battery system development

System work includes packaging, thermal control and protection features. An enquiry should distinguish supply of an identified product from development of a configuration for a new vehicle.

  • Battery packaging
  • Thermal management
  • Protection architecture
  • Project defined supply scope

Traction applications

Official EVE applications include passenger and commercial vehicles, construction equipment and vessels. Each project defines its own duty profile and integration requirements.

  • Automotive platforms
  • Commercial transport
  • Working machinery
  • Marine electric systems

Cell, module and system are different supply levels

Identify which object the project actually requires. A cell is a component of a battery, a module combines cells, and a battery system includes additional functions and interfaces. These terms should not be treated as interchangeable in a purchase order.

For maintenance, provide the nameplates of both the complete battery and the component concerned. For development, include a proposed configuration diagram. The quotation should describe each supply level separately with its relevant scope.

An enquiry that begins with cell capacity still needs to be connected to the vehicle architecture before a complete traction battery can be specified.

Selecting for a particular vehicle or machine

The machine model and year help locate the correct documentation, while the battery serial number, variant identifier and equipment manufacturer information add further context. Different configurations can use different operating voltages, mountings, cooling arrangements and control protocols.

If the battery forms part of an approved design, replacement follows the equipment owner’s technical approval procedure. For a new project, provide power, energy, duty cycle and installation space requirements.

Selection can then address an identified system with defined interfaces rather than a collection of components that happen to look similar. Retain the agreed configuration with the purchase specification.

Chemistry and housing within the design

EVE presents several traction cell constructions: prismatic LFP and NCM, NCM pouch and EV cylindrical cells. They support different engineering designs and are not a universal range of interchangeable parts.

The chemistry must be considered together with charging, protection, thermal management and mechanical construction. For maintenance, preserve the original specification until a technically approved alternative is established.

A common comparison table is useful when reviewing proposals: designation, voltage window, dimensions, terminals, cooling requirements and documented duty conditions.

Use the documentation of the particular variant rather than transferring specifications between neighbouring models or product families.

BMS interfaces and system versions

When requesting a BMS or an associated component, provide hardware and software versions, available identifiers and connection drawings. A board with similar dimensions does not establish compatibility with the battery or vehicle.

Agree which party defines the configuration and verifies system interaction. EVE’s description of ISO26262 and ASPICE development processes concerns its engineering approach and does not replace the documentation of a particular product.

List the controller, wiring, sensors and configuration work separately. This allows the technical team to check the supply scope and responsibility boundaries before an order is confirmed.

Thermal and mechanical integration

For a module or complete system, describe the cooling circuit, installation environment and mounting limitations. EVE presents liquid cooled solutions, but their requirements must be reviewed against the particular project. Connections and auxiliary components should be identified separately.

When servicing an existing battery, preserve the approved work procedure and equipment manufacturer requirements. For a new platform, agree who performs integration and testing.

The selected supply item should ultimately be linked to the electrical, thermal and mechanical sections of the project, rather than only to an energy or capacity figure. This also makes the final procurement schedule easier to review.

Preparing a useful procurement request

Start with the complete marking on the product and a clear photograph of the label. Add the application, quantity, terminal arrangement and delivery destination.

If the equipment documentation contains both an internal customer code and an EVE designation, provide both: the name of a finished device may differ from the cell installed inside it. A previous approved specification is useful for repeat orders, particularly when changes are highlighted.

For a new design, include the power requirements and available installation space. This information distinguishes a request for individual cells from a battery assembly or a complete system.

Electrical requirements and load profile

Describe the operating voltage window, average consumption, maximum current and duration of peak loads. A capacity figure alone does not explain how a battery behaves in the intended application.

State whether the equipment runs continuously, wakes periodically from standby or operates only during an outage. For rechargeable products, include the charger characteristics and control requirements. These inputs allow the appropriate variant to be discussed against its documentation.

When comparing proposals, use equivalent test conditions: initial state, temperature, discharge current, end voltage and duty cycle. Keep the equipment requirements separate from unverified claims about a particular product.

Dimensions, terminals and installation

A photograph beside a ruler can support preliminary identification, while the final selection should follow an agreed drawing. Provide dimensions, tolerances, polarity, terminal type, connector and mounting arrangement.

Products that look similar may differ in tabs, leads, attachment points or mechanical support requirements. When replacing a component inside an existing assembly, include the connection drawing and the assembly identification.

The equipment owner or responsible engineer should confirm the proposed variant. An agreed mechanical specification helps prevent a situation in which an electrically suitable cell cannot be fitted correctly into the instrument or battery module.

Operating and storage conditions

Describe the ambient temperature and the temperature inside the enclosure, exposure to moisture, vibration, ventilation and standby periods. Storage conditions before installation are also relevant to the supply specification.

Check the documentation of the selected variant rather than applying the temperature range of a neighbouring product family. Separate normal operation from short duration extremes. For outdoor installations, vehicles or cabinets with limited cooling, provide the applicable project requirements.

Considering the installation environment at the enquiry stage helps align the selected battery with the actual operating conditions rather than relying only on the information printed on its housing.

Documentation and batch traceability

Record the full designation, specification revision, quantity and required accompanying documents in the order schedule. For production programmes, define how batches will be identified and how markings will be retained.

The applicability of transport documents and test reports is checked against the agreed product and shipping method. Label photographs, packing lists and technical specifications serve different purposes and do not replace each other.

If your organisation follows a specific incoming inspection procedure, provide it before quotation. Requirements for documents, samples and inspection can then be included in the agreed order instead of being introduced after dispatch.

Samples and production quantities

For a new application, it is useful to separate technical sample evaluation from the subsequent production order. State which parameters your organisation will test and who is responsible for approving the application.

Retain sample results together with the product designation and the documentation revision. Before moving to volume supply, agree requirements for consistent construction, packaging and identification. For equipment already in service, an approved parts list can provide the starting point.

A change in chemistry, housing or connection arrangement is treated as a design change and should be agreed by the responsible specialist before an order is placed.

Supply scope and delivery planning

An enquiry can include several items, each with its own quantity and purpose. Separate cells, assembled modules, cables and additional components so that both purchasing and engineering teams can review the scope. Provide the delivery destination, preferred batch sequence and packaging requirements.

Battery transport requires an agreed shipping arrangement and appropriate terminal protection. Following technical clarification, the proposal identifies the products and their supply scope.

Compare this schedule line by line with the original enquiry to ensure that a required variant or accessory has not been omitted. Keep delivery planning linked to the final agreed configuration.

Availability, price, lead time, supply scope, transport documentation and compatibility are confirmed in the proposal for the identified product. This page does not establish authorised distributor or service status, or identical specifications across variants.
