Selecting a Hydra-Cell pump for an existing system

Begin equipment selection or replacement parts ordering with the complete metal nameplate on the Wanner Engineering pump body. Photograph the identification label showing the alphanumeric model code and serial number.

The Hydra-Cell model coding contains critical engineering details: cam profile, fluid head metallurgy, check valve design, seat material, and diaphragm elastomer type. For example, in code G25K52-THFEH, each letter specifies material compatibility.

If the nameplate is obscured, take clear photographs of the installed unit, measure port diameters and mounting dimensions, and record motor nameplate parameters including speed, shaft diameter, and power rating.

Sealless technology and abrasive resistance

The primary advantage of Hydra-Cell pumps is the complete absence of packing glands and dynamic mechanical seals. Process fluid is strictly isolated within the manifold head, check valves, and resilient diaphragms.

In conventional plunger pumps, abrasive particulates quickly penetrate mechanical packing, scoring ceramic plungers and causing dangerous leaks. In Hydra-Cell pumps, diaphragms are hydraulically balanced with oil backing.

This balanced design enables reliable pumping of particulate slurries, high-viscosity resins, lime milk, ceramic slip, and corrosive chemical solutions without abrasive seal failure.

Matching diaphragm elastomers to process fluids

Diaphragm working life depends on chemical compatibility between the elastomer and the pumped medium. Wanner Engineering manufactures an extensive range of materials for diverse industrial chemistry.

For general water-based solutions, glycols, and light oils, durable Buna-N-XS is standard. For elevated temperatures, hot acids, and solvents, fluoroelastomer FKM (Viton) or perfluoroelastomers Aflas / Kalrez are selected.

For concentrated alkalis or food-grade duties, EPDM is recommended, while extreme organic solvents require pure PTFE solid diaphragms. Include operating temperature and chemical concentration in your enquiry.

Pump model designation and configuration code

The Hydra-Cell designation begins with the series identifier (G, D, H, P, T, Q), followed by displacement code, drive flange specification, and material configuration suffixes.

The letter group immediately after the series number denotes manifold metallurgy: cast iron, brass, 316L stainless steel, Hastelloy C, or engineering polymers. Subsequent letters define check valve materials and O-ring grades.

Never truncate part references to just G10 or G25, because identical outer pump castings house drastically different internal metallurgies configured for neutral water or harsh chemical reagents.

Valve Kits or Diaphragm Kits maintenance sets

When performing preventive maintenance or rebuilding Hydra-Cell pumps, manufacturer genuine service kits should be used: Valve Kits (check valve assemblies) and Diaphragm Kits (elastomeric membrane sets).

A Valve Kit includes matched valve plates, precision seats, calibrated return springs, and elastomeric O-rings. Replacing a valve without its mating seat causes rapid cavitation and pressure loss.

A Diaphragm Kit includes flexible diaphragms, follower discs, and center clamp bolts engineered for precise torque. For comprehensive pump overhauls, both kit types should be ordered together.

Metering pumps and API 675 compliance

Hydra-Cell MT8 and P-Series pumps deliver linear, pulse-free injection for chemical treatment, boiler feed, and refining processes, fully meeting API 675 international standards.

The API 675 standard establishes strict accuracy criteria: steady-state flow accuracy within ±1%, linearity within ±3%, and repeatability within ±3% throughout the operational adjustment range.

Capacity adjustment is accomplished via a manual micrometer mechanism or an electro-mechanical actuator with 4–20 mA analogue feedback for seamless PLC supervisory control integration.

C-Series pressure regulating valves and line protection

Because positive displacement pumps deliver a fixed volume per stroke, closing downstream process valves without an open bypass route results in rapid pressure spikes and mechanical damage.

Wanner Engineering C-Series regulating valves (C20, C46, C62, C64) operate as proportional backpressure regulators and safety bypass valves, smoothly venting excess volume back to the reservoir.

Unlike generic spring-loaded relief valves, C-Series valves withstand slurry and abrasive particle flow without chatter, eliminating water hammer shock waves during automated valve switching.

High pressure pumps for reverse osmosis and heavy duties

Hydra-Cell pumps across G, T, and Q series are widely installed in reverse osmosis, nanofiltration, and sea water desalination skids due to their corrosion resistance and pulse dampening efficiency.

In ceramic and mining processing, sealless pumps move ceramic slip, enamel, and mineral slurries containing abrasive silica particles that destroy typical progressive cavity or centrifugal pumps.

In oilfield operations, triplex T100 and quintuplex Q155 pumps inject methanol, corrosion inhibitors, and produced formation brine at pressures up to 345 bar under continuous heavy duty.

Submitting a pump and spare parts enquiry

To receive an accurate technical quotation, send the complete pump designation code, part numbers from the official parts diagram, and the required quantities with target delivery terms.

If selecting a new replacement unit for a decommissioned pump of another make, provide process conditions: operating flow, discharge pressure, liquid temperature, viscosity, and solid grain size.

We prepare a detailed commercial proposal with confirmed pricing, logistics timeline, and technical verification ensuring all check valves, diaphragms, and seal kits match your machinery.
