Engineering excellence of Clemco SCW and SCWB direct-pressure blast pots
Clemco blast machines feature robust welded pressure vessels certified to European PED 2014/68/EU and ASME section VIII for pressures up to 12 bar (175 psi).
The steep conical bottom and concave lower head geometry guarantee gravity feed of abrasive media into the metering valve without bridging or media stalling.
The rapid-acting pop-up valve with a polyurethane ring gasket seals the chamber instantly when compressed air enters. A large inspection handhole allows maintenance crews to inspect the interior, clean out debris and replace the pop-up gasket swiftly without disconnecting external piping.
High-precision abrasive dosing control: Quantum and Sentinel valve technologies
Abrasive blasting efficiency requires maintaining an accurate air-to-media ratio. Excess media reduces blast velocity, while lean mixtures diminish cleaning rates. Clemco Quantum and Sentinel metering valves offer micrometer-calibrated metering for all abrasive types.
The Quantum valve features a replaceable polyurethane liner flexed by a tungsten carbide metering rod, preventing jamming of angular steel grit and shielding the valve body. Sentinel valves incorporate a pneumatic cut-off cylinder for instant abrasive shut-off during air blow-down.
Aerodynamics of Clemlite Venturi nozzles and boron carbide durability
Clemco Venturi blast nozzles develop supersonic air-abrasive jet velocities exceeding 200 m/s. The convergent-divergent nozzle geometry generates a uniform blasting pattern across the substrate, delivering consistent surface profile roughness (Sa 2.5 and Sa 3 per ISO 8501-1).
Cores of CTSG and CTSD nozzles are sintered from solid boron carbide (B4C), surpassed in hardness only by diamond. When blasting with aggressive corundum or garnet, boron carbide liners provide an operating lifespan of up to 1000 hours, outlasting tungsten carbide by 3 to 4 times.
Complete operator safety: Apollo 600 CE blast helmets and CPF air purification
Abrasive blasting environments involve ricocheting media, airborne dust and high acoustic noise. Clemco Apollo 600 CE helmets conform strictly to EN 14594 Class 4B standards.
The internal air manifold distributes breathing air over the panoramic window, preventing fogging and ensuring comfortable breathing.
The CPF-20 and CPF-80 breathing air filter stations perform multi-stage purification of compressed air, trapping oil aerosols, moisture, particles down to 0.5 microns and odors through activated carbon beds. Optional vortex cooling tubes allow operators to adjust air temperature by up to 15 °C.
Closed-loop abrasive recycling: ZERO cabinets and Munkebo vacuum systems
For indoor workshop environments, Clemco ZERO blast cabinets (Pulsar and BNP series) deliver dust-free enclosed surface treatment. The integrated cyclone reclaimer separates reusable abrasive from broken fines and dust, while a reverse-pulse cartridge filter traps fine particles.
For ship cargo tanks, bridge box girders and storage vessels, Munkebo MB-220 and MB-750 high-vacuum recovery units provide heavy-duty suction. Driven by Roots positive displacement blowers, these units recover up to 15 tonnes of steel grit per hour over distances up to 100 meters.
