Cooper Bussmann circuit protection

Source Cooper Bussmann circuit protection components for industrial equipment and panels: fuse links, holders and bases matched to your specification and application.

NH industrial fuse links

NH fuse links support industrial distribution applications. Identify the body size and complete catalogue number together. Data sheet 10164 covers the 500 Vac range; use the appropriate individual document for another voltage.

  • Sizes 000–4; gG/gL classification.
  • 500 Vac range: ratings from 2 to 1250 A.
  • Example reference: 35NHG000B.
  • Select the fuse link and base together.

C10G, C14G and C22G cylindrical links

Cylindrical links fit modular fuse holders. C08G, C10G, C14G and C22G identify different body sizes, while the catalogue also includes aM versions. Include diameter, length, operating class and the indication suffix in the request.

  • Sizes: 8×31, 10×38, 14×51 and 22×58 mm.
  • Separate gG/gL and aM versions.
  • Indicator and striker options exist.
  • Keep G or M in the complete reference.

BS88 fuses and the AAO family

British BS88 links require attention to tag position and mounting dimensions. AAO is one industrial HRC family within this format. BS88 names a standard rather than a unique purchase reference, so an exact catalogue number remains essential.

  • AAO uses British reference size A2.
  • Data sheet 4109 lists gG and gM versions.
  • AAO holders include RS32H and CM32F.
  • Photograph both mounting tags for identification.

High speed FWP and 170M fuses

Power electronics selection includes interruption characteristics and I²t. Data sheet 720012 describes bolted-tag FWP links. The 170M family has separate documents for its voltage and contact arrangements; a family name alone cannot identify the required unit.

  • FWP uses North American bolted tags.
  • Document 720012 covers 5–1200 A, 700 Vac.
  • FWP DC ratings depend on the exact reference.
  • Supply the full numerical 170M catalogue number.

Low-Peak LPJ, LPN-RK and LPS-RK

Low-Peak includes several fuse classes. LPJ is Class J; LPN-RK and LPS-RK are separate Class RK1 families. Replacement selection retains the class and contact arrangement, rather than relying on the Low-Peak name or ampere rating alone.

  • LPJ has dual-element time-delay construction.
  • LPJ-SP and LPJ-SPI differ in indication.
  • Indicating LPJ-SPI in document 1006 is not DC rated.
  • Use a Class J holder for the selected LPJ.

Fusetron FRN-R and FRS-R

Fusetron comprises dual-element time-delay fuses. FRN-R and FRS-R have different voltage ratings. Indication suffixes and current values form part of the product reference and need to remain visible when identifying a replacement for existing equipment.

  • FRN-R: Class RK5, 250 Vac version.
  • FRS-R is the separate 600 Vac family.
  • Selected FRN-R ratings offer an ID suffix.
  • Assess the starting load against the curve.

Class CC: LP-CC, FNQ-R and KTK-R

Compact Class CC fuses require their own selection route. LP-CC is time delay, while FNQ-R and KTK-R are different series. A similar cylindrical appearance or nominal size does not establish electrical or holder compatibility.

  • LP-CC: Class CC, 600 Vac, 0.5–30 A.
  • LP-CC DC voltage varies with ampere rating.
  • FNQ-R is time delay; KTK-R is fast acting.
  • CHCC is the holder family for Class CC.

CHCC, CHM, CHPV holders and NH bases

A protection assembly includes fuse links, holders and auxiliary components. Select modular CH holders by fuse class and pole count. NH requires bases of the appropriate size, documented separately from the fuse link itself.

  • CHCC: Class CC; CHM: 10×38 and supplemental.
  • CHPV is the separate photovoltaic version.
  • CH holders have 1-, 2- and 3-pole versions.
  • CH mounting uses a 35 mm DIN rail.

Cooper Bussmann and Eaton Bussmann series

Older equipment lists use Cooper Bussmann, while Eaton documents use Bussmann series. We accept enquiries for industrial fuse links, holders and assemblies under both names. Keep the installed reference and suffix intact; the machine model adds context to that component identification.

Information for a selection request

Photograph the label and both contact ends, and state the required quantity. If the link sits in a holder, include the holder marking and an overall view of the assembly. A highlighted bill-of-materials line is useful when it retains the relevant notes beside the reference.

Add rated current, voltage, AC or DC service, body size and operating class. These details distinguish visually similar products from different families. When the full reference is missing, a mounting drawing and the equipment model help narrow the identification work.

Retain the complete catalogue reference

Preserve hyphens, fractions and suffixes in a Bussmann reference. Send photos of both packaging and component labels if they differ, and explain whether the order follows the original equipment list or the part currently installed.

This prevents different versions from becoming one ambiguous line.

Specify AC or DC service

State the circuit voltage and current type in the request. An AC marking cannot simply become the same DC rating. Even within one family, the applicable DC value may depend on the individual part number, current range and indication option described in its data sheet.

LPJ in data sheet 1006 illustrates why suffixes matter: its indicating version has a specific DC restriction. FWP document 720012 separates DC performance by reference groups. We check the selected version against its own table before defining the purchase specification.

Match the class to the application

Send the operating class alongside current and voltage. IEC descriptions and UL classes use different naming systems.

A motor, distribution feeder, control circuit or converter should remain identified as its actual application; a similar-looking link does not establish equivalent protection behaviour.

Include the protection reference specified by the equipment maker where available. This provides a practical starting point for checking the current assembly.

For a changed design, the responsible engineer should review the circuit requirements and document the selection rather than treating it as a routine replacement.

Body dimensions and holder selection

Compare the link body with its mounting space and the contacts with the base. Bolted versions require hole diameter, centres and tag position. Cylindrical versions require diameter and overall length. For NH links, include the size reference as well as the electrical identification.

List links, holders, covers and auxiliary components separately when requesting an assembly. State the holder pole count and the number of fuse links as different quantities.

Photographs of the fitted base help connect the electrical requirements to the actual mechanical arrangement inside the panel.

Power electronics and converter requests

For a converter, provide its model, the protection position from its parts list and the installed fuse reference. An electrical drawing or specified I²t value is useful additional material.

The selected data sheet supports comparison of interruption behaviour as well as the physical mounting requirements.

FWP, FWH and 170M identify different families with several ratings and contact arrangements. Equal current values alone do not define a suitable substitution.

Keep the exact proposed reference and its document attached to the agreed specification, particularly when the original component number is unavailable.

Motor starting and time delay

For a motor circuit, provide motor power, starting arrangement and the original protection reference. LPJ and FRN-R have time delay but belong to different classes.

Compare the specified document, holder and coordination requirements rather than combining these families into one purchasing position.

Indication and auxiliary accessories

Explain whether indication is needed on the fuse itself or through a signalling contact. Catalogue suffixes and construction options distinguish these versions.

A photo of the indicator and its associated connection is more useful than describing an item only as the same size or the same rating.

When replacing a holder, identify the functions that need to remain: pole count, mounting, terminals, covers and signalling. If only links are required, say so explicitly.

This keeps the list focused on the items being purchased and leaves existing usable assembly components clearly identified.

Requests from a bill of materials

A table can hold the original reference, current, voltage, class, quantity and an equipment note for each position. Attach photos and drawings using matching position names. This helps review several components together while preserving the technical context that belongs to each line.

Avoid merging entries before checking differences in suffix, contact form or circuit type. We first compare the references and then agree the order list with the customer. The resulting specification should show which link and which base belong to each requested assembly or spare position.

Legacy references and substitutions

Provide the legacy reference, equipment-list page and any replacement marking already installed. Cross references support the search but need comparison of electrical characteristics, dimensions, contacts and application conditions.

Attach the proposed part’s drawing and technical sheet to make the engineering review clear.

A matched panel maintenance kit

List the links, holders and accessories being replaced and identify components remaining in service. Separate the operating set from maintenance spares with individual quantities.

Attach the original bill of materials and assembly photos so each purchasing line retains its equipment position and specified rating.

Preparing an industrial purchase

We handle enquiries from industrial users, maintenance organisations and panel manufacturers. Send one component reference or a complete list, attach available photos, and provide a working contact.

Indicate whether the purchase must follow the original number or whether an alternative may be reviewed.

After technical identification, the component list is agreed with the customer. Keep full references, quantities and assembly contents in the purchasing documents.

State the destination and any packing preferences with the enquiry so the requested delivery arrangement can be considered alongside the item list.

Availability, price, delivery time, assembly contents, compatibility and required documents are confirmed in the individual offer. This page does not establish authorised dealership or service status. The customer’s responsible engineer approves circuit design changes.
