COMPRESSORS FOR PET AND INDUSTRIAL AIR

AF Compressors oil-free compressors

AF Compressors is a Belgian manufacturer of oil-free reciprocating compressors. Select PET and OPC by pressure, capacity, duty profile and station configuration.

Compressors and configurations

Specifications apply to the stated manufacturer models and configurations. The operating point, equipment scope, price and lead time will be confirmed during quotation. We are neither a dealer nor a representative of AF Compressors.

M2: smaller PET lines

M2 is the smaller AF oil-free PET compressor family. The manufacturer lists M2 XS at 120 m³/h FAD and 30 kW, M2 S at 180 m³/h and 37 kW, and M2 A at 215 m³/h and 45 kW. Selection starts with the blow moulder air demand at the required pressure.

Provide average and peak demand, the production schedule, available cooling water and the required standby arrangement.

Model, operating pressure, capacity and configuration

CE24 and L3: matching air capacity

The CE24 and L3 group covers 315–770 m³/h FAD with 55–132 kW motors. CE24 XS, S, A, B and C are listed at 315, 425, 510, 600 and 700 m³/h; L3 XS, S and A at 525, 640 and 770 m³/h. Compare nearby models at the required pressure and load profile.

For an extension, include existing compressor specifications and the common header connection arrangement.

Model, operating pressure, capacity and configuration

L4: two capacity choices

The L4 family has two principal models: L4 A at 975 m³/h FAD and L4 B at 1100 m³/h FAD. This group serves PET systems with higher air demand. State the required pressure at the blow moulding equipment, demand per line and which consumers operate simultaneously.

When replacing an existing compressor, include installation space, cooling water connections and electrical supply constraints so the proposed arrangement can be assessed.

Model, operating pressure, capacity and configuration

L5: four configurations

L5 XS is listed at 1260 m³/h FAD and 200 kW, and L5 S at 1330 m³/h and 220 kW. L5 A provides 1530 m³/h with 250 kW, while L5 B provides 1680 m³/h with 280 kW. Choose by operating point and production load.

If demand varies between shifts, include an air consumption profile to assess regulation and operation alongside existing machines.

Model, operating pressure, capacity and configuration

L6 and CE68: larger installations

The L6 group lists L6 A at 1940 m³/h FAD and 315 kW, CE68 A at 2100 m³/h and 355 kW, and L6 B at 2170 m³/h and 355 kW. Project requirements include cooling water, electrical infrastructure and maintenance access as well as air capacity.

State whether this is a standalone installation or a station extension, and provide the existing machine list and required reserve capacity.

Model, operating pressure, capacity and configuration

L7–L9: high PET air capacity

The larger models are L7 at 2330 m³/h FAD, L8 A at 2500, L8 B at 2800, L9 A at 3100 and L9 B at 3300 m³/h. Installed power across the group is 400–550 kW. Assess these machines as part of a compressor station project.

Provide the total demand profile, simultaneous production lines, pressure and standby requirements. Air treatment and multi-compressor control also need to be defined.

Model, operating pressure, capacity and configuration

OPC 45–132: air at 8 and 10 bar

OPC machines are two-stage, two-cylinder, water-cooled oil-free reciprocating compressors. OPC45–75 covers 7.0–13.8 m³/min FAD and OPC90–132 covers 15–23 m³/min FAD in the 8 and 10 bar ranges. For industrial air supply, specify pressure and air quality requirements at the consumers.

When replacing another technology, include actual demand, operating hours and existing air treatment specifications to compare the complete installation.

Model, operating pressure, capacity and configuration

OPC 160–355: industrial air networks

For higher demand, AF offers OPC160–200 at 24.2–32.1 m³/min FAD and OPC250–355 at 38.5–58 m³/min FAD. The main configurations operate at 8 and 10 bar. Describe the consumers, daily demand profile and acceptable pressure variation. For an existing station, supply its layout and current machine data.

This supports discussion of load allocation, standby capacity, cooling and the required air treatment equipment.

Model, operating pressure, capacity and configuration

Special operating pressures

AF lists single-stage OPC160–220 machines at 3.6–4 bar and 39.8–46.5 m³/min FAD. Two-stage variants cover requirements above 10 bar up to 15 bar, while OPC M3 is separately listed at 16 bar and 2.8 m³/min FAD. Describe the process and minimum pressure at the consumer.

State whether demand is continuous or intermittent, since these pressure ranges require a specific project configuration.

Model, operating pressure, capacity and configuration

SIS: controlled starting

The Smart Inverter Starter is a compressor starting cabinet using a frequency inverter. It addresses motor starting and its effect on the electrical network and mechanical drive. SIS differs from full variable-speed regulation.

Provide the machine model, motor power, supply parameters and starting constraints. For a retrofit, include the existing electrical diagram and cabinet description so the required equipment changes can be defined.

Model, operating pressure, capacity and configuration

VSD and AFS: adjusting air delivery

VSD adjusts motor speed to match air demand. AFS adjusts delivery by unloading part of the cylinder; the manufacturer describes 0/50/100% operating modes. Selection needs a demand profile and the time spent at partial load.

AF includes a specific motor, shielded connections and pre-lubrication in its VSD arrangement. State the existing configuration and whether the project concerns a new machine or modification of an operating station.

Model, operating pressure, capacity and configuration

HRS: using recovered heat

HRS recovers heat from compressor cooling water. HRS-90 uses an adapted circuit with water up to 85–90 °C; HRS-40 is an external skid with a dismantlable plate heat exchanger and a 500 l water receiver.

Selection depends on the heat consumer: temperature, flow and operating hours must align with compressor operation. Describe the water system and connection point to assess recovery as part of the station project.

Model, operating pressure, capacity and configuration

Multi-compressor control

The Multi-Compressor Controller selects machines to meet demand in a common air network. AF describes balancing running hours and reducing off-load operation, and names Siemens Delta S8 and S12. Provide the compressor list, power ratings and regulation methods.

State whether the station has a common receiver or manifold, identify the existing controller and describe data communication needs. These details define integration and the operating sequence.

Station parts and maintenance

For existing PET and OPC installations, request valves, piston rings, mechanism components, belts and coolers. Match parts to the compressor model, serial number and stage. A maintenance list should show quantities for each machine.

Include separate nameplates and diagrams for electrical and heat exchange equipment. If the installation has been modified, describe those changes so the actual station configuration is reflected in the parts enquiry.

Station selection information

Provide consumer demand and pressure, the load profile, shifts, available water and power. State air treatment, installation space and standby requirements. For an existing station, include its header layout and compressor list.

Parts for installed equipment

For valves, rings, cylinders, drives and cooling equipment, supply the serial number and catalog position. Cabinets, motors and heat exchangers need their own nameplates. A quantity list can combine maintenance parts for several machines into one enquiry.

Send the operating point and project scope

Describe the task: new production line, increased capacity, replacement, regulation, heat recovery or maintenance. Attach the specification and installation layout to identify the suitable series and the data required for a quotation.
