BITZER ECOLINE semi-hermetic reciprocating compressors form the base range for commercial and industrial refrigeration: seven housing sizes and 27 models with displacement from 4.06 to 221.0 m³/h at 50 Hz.
ECOLINE TANDEM packages combine two compressors on a common frame: 20 models from 22.7 to 303.2 m³/h serve large refrigeration plants, distribution warehouses and process cooling.
Capacity is controlled mechanically with VARISTEP or by variable speed using the in-house VARIPACK inverter or an external frequency converter. The range accepts HFC, HCFC and low-GWP HFO blends. Maximum pressure for the base design and tandems: high side up to 32 bar, low side up to 19 bar.
Selection data required: cooling capacity, evaporating and condensing temperatures, refrigerant type, supply voltage and frequency.
BITZER CSH.6 compact screw compressors
BITZER CSH.6 compact semi-hermetic screw compressors comprise 12 models with displacement from 258 to 1120 m³/h at 50 Hz. They serve comfort and process chillers, heat pumps and reversible systems providing simultaneous cooling and heating.
An integrated oil separator and a suction-gas-cooled motor simplify system layout: no separate oil tank or external oil piping is required, so the package is more compact and cheaper to install.
Capacity is controlled mechanically through flanged solenoid valves, and a dual slide valve with Vi compensation gives stepwise or stepless control. The range accepts R134a, R513A, R450A, R1234ze(E) and R1234yf.
Circuit components include OAF oil separators, F and FS receivers and OL or OW oil coolers.
Please specify application, cooling capacity, evaporating and condensing temperatures, refrigerant and control method.
BITZER HS, HSK and HSN semi-hermetic screw compressors
BITZER HS semi-hermetic screw compressors come in four families: HS.53, HS.64, HS.74 and HS.85 — 13 models with displacement from 84 to 535 m³/h at 50 Hz.
HSK is intended for medium temperatures and air conditioning, HSN for low-temperature refrigeration, and HSKB serves as the low-pressure stage in booster systems. The HSK motor for R134a accepts condensing temperatures up to +65 °C.
Capacity control on HS.53–HS.74 is multistage through control pistons; HS.85 uses a dual slide valve with stepwise or stepless control and Vi compensation.
The HS.95 series adds 4 models from 700 to 1015 m³/h at 50 Hz with two slide valves, stepless control from 25 to 100 %, automatic Vi adaptation and an on-board IQ MODULE. All series run from 20 to 75 Hz with a frequency converter, HS.95 from 25 to 60 Hz.
Key selection data: temperature level, cooling capacity, refrigerant and redundancy requirements.
BITZER ORBIT 6, ORBIT 8 and ORBIT PRO scroll compressors
BITZER ORBIT 6 and ORBIT 8 scroll compressors comprise 10 models rated from 10 to 40 HP for chillers, rooftop units, heat pumps, four-pipe systems and process cooling. The range covers R410A (class A1) and the low-GWP refrigerants R454B, R452B and R32 (class A2L).
BITZER Advanced Header Technology (BAHT) combines modules into tandems and trios without additional oil equalisation lines: compressor count grows with the load and common connection sizes simplify service.
A separate version, ORBIT PRO, runs on the natural refrigerant R290 with evaporating temperatures from −30 to +30 °C and condensing temperatures from 10 to 80 °C, opening applications in heat pumps and data centre cooling.
Please provide capacity, refrigerant, temperature range and the intended arrangement: single module, tandem or trio.
BITZER tandem and multi-compressor packages
We assemble compressor packages for a specific circuit: ECOLINE TANDEM sets, scroll tandems and trios using BAHT technology, and booster systems where HSKB acts as the low-pressure stage.
Parallel operation widens the control range and provides redundancy: if one compressor stops, the plant keeps running at reduced capacity instead of shutting down.
A package includes compressors, oil separators, receivers, oil coolers and protection devices: the IQ MODULE, the Delta-PII differential oil pressure switch and OLC-D1 or OLM-IQ oil level sensors.
Send a schematic or describe the task: required load, number of stages, redundancy and space constraints.
BITZER compressor electronics and protection
BITZER electronics combine compressor protection, monitoring and control. Since 2024 the IQ MODULE CM-RC-02 has been standard or optional on most semi-hermetic reciprocating compressors; the previous generation is the CM-RC-01.
The module covers protection, monitoring, analysis, operation and communication. SE-B* monitors the 140 °C PTC circuit in the motor windings.
CM-IO-A and CM-IO-B extension boards add capacity control steps and connect OLS and OLM-IQ oil level sensors, while parameters and the operating log are set in the BEST software.
The oil system is completed by OLC-D1 level sensors, the OLM-IQ controller and Delta-PII, MP54 and MP55 differential oil pressure switches.
Please state the compressor model, supply voltage and required functions: protection, communication, capacity control.
Oil for BITZER compressors
We select oil for BITZER compressors by refrigerant and operating mode. The standard charge of modern units is the polyol ester oil BSE32, indicated by the letter Y on the nameplate. Above a condensing temperature of 70 °C the range moves to BSE55, and some series use BSE85K.
Propane (R290) systems use BSG68K, R22 machines the mineral oil B5.2, and HFO systems SHC226E. The first oil change falls after 100 operating hours, then every three years or 10 000 to 12 000 hours.
OLC-D1 activates 90 seconds after start and shuts the unit down after 5 seconds without a detectable oil level.
Oil selection requires the compressor model, refrigerant, condensing temperature and charge volume.
Spare parts and assemblies for BITZER compressors
Spare parts and assemblies for BITZER compressors: valve plate assemblies, piston and connecting rod groups, crankshafts, piston rings and bearings.
The configuration is established from the compressor nameplate — model, serial number, year of manufacture, motor type — and from the BITZER ePARTS exploded-view drawings, where parts are listed by model range.
Reciprocating compressors are built with two, four, six and eight cylinders; designations run from 2KES-05 to 8FE-70, with two-stage 4Z-5.2 … 4N-20.2 units for R22 listed separately.
We also supply OAF6288 … OAF15211 and OA1954EX … OA25112EX oil separators, F and FS receivers, OL and OW oil coolers, sensors and electronic modules.
Send a photo of the nameplate and the assembly: we confirm revision and configuration from model and serial number.
Data required for a refrigeration plant calculation
Required cooling capacity, evaporating and condensing temperatures, refrigerant type, supply voltage and frequency, operating mode and redundancy requirements. For a replacement assembly — compressor model, serial number and a photo of the nameplate.
Spare parts and circuit components
Valve plates, piston and connecting rod groups, crankshafts, bearings, oil separators, receivers, oil coolers, oil, sensors and electronic modules. The range is confirmed against the BITZER ePARTS exploded-view drawings.
Selecting a compressor for a refrigeration plant
The calculation starts with the thermal load and the temperature level. 6 screw compressors suit medium temperatures, two-stage ECOLINE and HSN screw units cover low temperatures, while HSK and ORBIT scroll compressors serve air conditioning and heat pumps.
Required cooling capacity is matched against the displacement of the selected model, with operating points checked at the evaporating and condensing temperatures.
We then confirm the refrigerant and the control method: mechanical VARISTEP, variable speed with a VARIPACK or external converter, or the dual slide valve with Vi compensation. These choices define the part-load range and the energy demand.
For large installations we calculate a tandem or trio option, since parallel operation provides redundancy and allows capacity to be added in phases.
Circuit components and controls
A compressor works inside a circuit, so the supply includes OAF and OA oil separators, F and FS receivers, OL and OW oil coolers, sensors and protection devices. Selection follows the compressor size, the thermal load and the circuit layout.
The electronics combine protection, monitoring and control: the IQ MODULE CM-RC-02, the SE-B* protection device, CM-IO-A and CM-IO-B extension boards, configured in the BEST software. Oil level is monitored by OLC-D1 and OLM-IQ, and differential pressure by Delta-PII, MP54 and MP55 switches.
Replacement, servicing and terms of supply
For a replacement we establish the revision from the nameplate: model, serial number, year of manufacture, motor type. For servicing we supply valve plates, piston and connecting rod groups, crankshafts, bearings, filters and oil.
The first oil change falls after 100 operating hours, then every three years or 10 000 to 12 000 hours.
