MEBA / MEBA Metall-Bandsägemaschinen: bandsaws and tooling

German manufacturer MEBA Metall-Bandsägemaschinen GmbH in Westerheim has engineered precision metal band sawing machines since 1958. Industrial machines operate across metal fabrication, steel service centers, aerospace and machinery plants for clean cutting of solid bars and structural beams.

  • High precision metal bandsawing machinery engineered in Westerheim, Germany
  • Advanced solutions for structural steel fabricators and heavy industrial plants
  • Patented overhead double miter swivel assembly developed and refined since 1991
  • Fast selection of replacement items, carbide guides and cylinders by serial number

MEBAeco series bandsawing machines and DGA variants

Versatile high performance bandsaws of the MEBAeco line (335, 410, 510) feature a rigid frame design and variable speed drive. Automatic DGA variants integrate electromechanical miter swiveling and CNC control for high volume serial cutting of structural profiles and solid alloy billets.

  • MEBAeco 335 and MEBAeco 410 machines designed for extended billet dimensions
  • Automated DGA configurations with programmable miter angle positioning system
  • Energy efficient electric main drive motor with stepless cutting speed regulation
  • Heavy duty hydraulic clamping vises with even load distribution along jaw surfaces

MEBA swivel miter band saws with Double Miter geometry

The design of MEBA DG series miter saws delivers swiveling from minus 60 to plus 45 or 60 degrees. An overhead pivot suspension keeps the cutting axis stationary relative to material clamping, eliminating datum offset and keeping residual remnant pieces down to minimum length.

  • Angular miter cutting range from minus 60 to plus 60 degrees for structural beams
  • Patented overhead pivot kinematics maintaining constant workpiece clamp reference
  • Digital angle position readout with precision accuracy to decimal fractions of degree
  • Hydraulic material clamping vises positioned on both sides of saw cutting zone

Industrial automatic saws of MEBApro, MEBAmat and MEBAsteel

Heavy two-column complexes in the MEBApro, MEBAmat and MEBAsteel series are built for round-the-clock continuous production. Rigid ground guide columns, hydraulic dampening and MEBAconnect digital controls maintain cut squareness across massive structural girders, forgings and solid ingots.

  • Heavy duty dual-column linear guides engineered with high dampening properties
  • Automatic material infeed gripper shuttle driven by ballscrew and servo motor
  • MEBAconnect digital interface monitoring cutting telemetry and run hour records
  • Integration with motorized roller tables, cross-transfer conveyors and length stops

Saw blades, carbide guide blocks and bearing assemblies

MEBA guide blocks combine carbide inserts with precision guide bearings that align the band saw blade ahead of the cutting zone. We supply replacement guide blocks, carbide pads, band drive wheels and bimetal blades tailored for demanding alloy steels and high temperature metals.

  • Carbide wear pads and guide block inserts treated with hard friction coating
  • Thrust bearings and lateral support roller assemblies for band drive wheels
  • Bimetal M42, M51 and carbide tipped band saw blades in welded loops or coils
  • Powered chip removal brushes cleaning band blade gullets to prevent teeth jamming

Tensioning hydraulics, frame feed drives and clamping vises

The hydraulic system on MEBA machines governs band blade tensioning force, saw bow feed elevation and workpiece vise clamping. We supply blade tension cylinders, directional solenoid valves, proportional flow valves, motor reducers and sealing repair kits for factory maintenance.

  • Hydraulic blade tensioning cylinders featuring integral pressure gauge readout
  • Proportional hydraulic flow valves for gentle saw bow downfeed rate control
  • Workpiece clamping vise hydraulic cylinders complete with durable seal assemblies
  • Heavy duty industrial gear motors and drive shafts delivering continuous band torque

MEBA machine tool history and sawing innovations

MEBA Metall-Bandsägemaschinen GmbH based in Westerheim, Germany has focused solely on designing and manufacturing heavy duty metal bandsawing machinery since 1958.

Founded by Karl Mahr, the enterprise has grown into a world technological leader supplying bandsaws for cutting structural steels, alloys and non-ferrous metals.

In 1985, MEBA engineers introduced the industry first fully enclosed automatic metal bandsaw, setting benchmark safety and shop floor standards.

The factory integrates patented swivel mechanisms, precision servo electric ball-screw downfeed systems and digital telematics monitoring cut accuracy in real time.

MEBA bandsaw engineering and Double Miter swivel geometry

A defining technological distinction of MEBA swivel miter saws is the Double Miter design introduced in 1991.

The overhead pivot swivel suspension is mounted above the cutting zone, maintaining the intersection point between the band saw blade and vise datum plane stationary across angles from minus 60 to plus 60 degrees.

This pivot geometry eliminates repetitive datum readjustment when altering miter angles, accelerating structural beam and pipe fabrication for building frames.

Rigid machine frame dampening suppresses blade teeth vibrations, extending saw blade operating life and preserving squareness on cut end faces.

Selection of MEBA components and workshop spare parts

We provide engineering selection of replacement parts and specialized saw tooling for MEBA (MEBA Metall-Bandsägemaschinen): tungsten carbide guide blocks, support rollers, band drive wheels, blade tension hydraulic cylinders, proportional downfeed valves, gear motors and band chip brushes.

Using factory parts catalogs and machine serial nameplates, we identify compatible components conforming to factory production tolerances. Shipments are handled through established freight carriers directly to customer manufacturing facilities or regional transport terminals.

Routine maintenance and replacement of high wear components

During intensive metal fabrication, contact surfaces of carbide guide inserts, band wheel bearings, wiper scrapers and chip cleaning brushes experience natural abrasive wear. Regular inspection of clearances in band guide blocks prevents out-of-square cuts, blade jamming and fatigue fractures.

Hydraulic blade tension pressure is monitored via built-in transducers to eliminate band slippage over the driven pulley. Scheduled maintenance includes checking clamping vise jaws, lubricating linear dual-column guides and inspecting coolant delivery pumps and micro-spray mist units.

Matching band saw blades to industrial alloys and structural steels

Cutting productivity and edge quality depend on selecting the right band saw blade. For carbon construction steels, hollow structural sections and solid bars, bimetal M42 blades with variable pitch teeth are widely used.

For tool steels, stainless alloys and nickel grades, M51 or carbide tipped blades are chosen.

When mounting a new blade, a break-in procedure at reduced cutting speed and half downfeed rate smooths micro-imperfections along cutting edges. Proper break-in extends total saw blade operating life by up to fifty percent and prevents early tooth strippage during initial engagement.

MEBAconnect digital platform and automated sawing workcells

Modern MEBA bandsawing complexes integrate into smart factory environments via the MEBAconnect interface. The platform tracks run hours, remaining band blade life, main motor power draw and downfeed speed in real time, delivering diagnostic telemetry to shop floor MES networks.

Coupled with powered infeed roller tables, cross-transfer conveyors and MEBArobots handling systems, the saws form fully automated production cells. The CNC system optimizes bar nesting routines to minimize offcut waste and coordinates sorting of finished cut workpieces.
