Norwegian engineering heritage of Mascot AS and global production facilities

Founded in 1938 in Fredrikstad, Norway, Mascot evolved from early radio manufacturing into a dedicated developer of power electronics serving medical instrumentation, industrial automation, marine systems, and defense equipment.

The corporate headquarters of Mascot AS and Mascot Electronics AS in Fredrikstad coordinate circuit research, compliance testing, and custom engineering.

Serial manufacturing of battery chargers, switch-mode AC/DC power supplies, DC/DC converters, DC/AC inverters, and magnetic components takes place at two wholly owned group factories: Mascot Baltic OÜ in Tallinn, Estonia, and Mascot Power Supplies (Ningbo) Co. Ltd in Ningbo, China.

This structure supports both high-volume series and custom OEM runs starting from 25 units.

Selecting battery chargers by battery chemistry and cell configuration

Accurate selection of a Mascot battery charger relies on the chemistry suffix following the four-digit Type number: the LI suffix designates lithium-ion battery packs (4.2 V per cell charge voltage), LiFe denotes lithium iron phosphate LiFePO4 packs (3.65 V per cell), LA covers lead-acid batteries (GEL, AGM, WET, SLA), and NiMH identifies nickel-metal hydride battery assemblies.

Within the 2240 LI, 2541 LI, and replacement 3546 LI families, individual versions are strictly calibrated to the number of series-connected cells (from 1 to 7 cells or from 1 to 14 cells) and the 3-step current detection threshold.

For nickel-metal hydride packs, model 2115 NiMH employs a Computer Programmable Microprocessor (CPM) combining -dV, dT/dt, 0 dV, and safety timer termination.

Blue-line AC/DC power units for medical and laboratory instrumentation

The Mascot Blue-line family is engineered specifically for patient monitors, laboratory analyzers, rehabilitation devices, and home healthcare apparatus.

Desktop and plug-in models 3721 (up to 42 W), 3820 (up to 120 W), and 3520 (up to 265 W) incorporate reinforced insulation and low leakage current in full compliance with medical safety standards EN 60601-1 ed. 3.1 and EN 60601-1-11.

Alongside medical safety rules, these units meet electromagnetic compatibility standard EN 60601-1-2 ed. 4 as well as eco-design efficiency directives DoE level VI, CoC Tier 2, CEC, and MEPS.

When ordering a replacement unit, engineers verify the fixed output voltage (5, 6, 7.5, 9, 12, 15, 18, or 24 V), the 2-pin IEC 60320 mains inlet type, and whether a mounting bracket is required.

Operating isolated DC/DC converters and true sine wave DC/AC inverters

For onboard networks in commercial vehicles, marine vessels, rolling stock, and remote telemetry cabinets, Mascot produces switch-mode DC/DC converters in series 8862 (up to 81 W) and 9260 (up to 158 W).

Both input and output stages are electrically separated from each other and from the metal chassis, preventing ground loops and protecting sensitive PLC controllers from interference.

Converter input stages include an input fuse, reverse-polarity protection, and a transorb diode suppressing high-voltage transients, together with automatic shutdown outside the rated voltage window.

Where 230 V 50 Hz AC power is needed from 12 V or 24 V battery banks, true sine wave inverters 2285 (300 W) and 2286 (600 W) provide clean sinusoidal power compliant with EN 62368-1.

Replacing NRND legacy models and matching output connector assemblies

Across the manufacturer catalog, several earlier charger generations carry NRND status (Not Recommended for New Designs) with direct cross-references to current models: for instance, 2.7 A chargers 2541 LI and 2542 LiFe transition to series 3546 LI and 3546 LiFe.

During replacement selection for existing equipment, we verify electrical curves, cell counts, and mechanical dimensions.

Special attention is given to the secondary cable assembly, interchangeable DC output plug tips, and optional third-wire NTC thermistors or external temperature sensors (such as on the 6-step 7 A charger 3245 LA).

For washdown or outdoor environments, sealed waterproof IP67 enclosures are selected, whereas embedded medical or industrial cabinets can utilize open-frame PCB versions.

How to prepare nameplate data for technical selection and quotation

To identify a Mascot charger, power unit, converter, or inductive component accurately, send a clear photograph of the factory rating label on the enclosure.

The nameplate specifies the four-digit Type number, the chemistry or voltage variant, input voltage range, regulated DC output voltage, maximum current rating in amperes, and any custom OEM project code.

If the label is missing or damaged, specify the host medical or industrial instrument model, battery chemistry and series cell count (for example, 7-cell Li-Ion or 24 V AGM), required wattage, and a photo of the mating DC connector.

We prepare itemized quotations for corporate buyers with bank transfer settlement and organized logistics to your destination facility.

Mascot and model names are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to identify the equipment for which we source parts. SpareX is not an official dealer, distributor or representative of Mascot and is not affiliated with the trademark owner. Origin, documents and warranty are stated for each item in the quotation.
