CFT Rizzardi machine tool automation selection

Select CFT Rizzardi tool changing systems, magazines and handling assemblies around the machine layout, tooling interfaces and required operating cycle.

CTM and CTR drum tool changers

The manufacturer describes CTM as a CUT cam exchanger, a BP gripper arm and a drum magazine. Select an assembly against its complete designation and machine installation drawing.

  • CTM standard magazines: 12, 20 or 30 positions
  • CUT cam operated exchange mechanism
  • BP tool gripping arm

CTNE 50 shuttle tool changer

Define the shuttle travel, guide arrangement and spindle position together. The published tool weights apply to the corresponding standard or heavy duty configuration.

  • Magazines for 20–80 tools
  • Tools up to 25 kg, heavy duty version up to 35 kg
  • O+V version for horizontal and vertical spindle positions

CTA HS and CTA HSL magazine systems

CFT Rizzardi lists CTA HS with an annular magazine and CTA HSL with a compact shaped magazine. Check the exchange point and the space available around the machine.

  • CTA HS annular arrangement
  • CTA HSL compact shaped magazine
  • Send the installation layout and required tool count

TM and TMA 40 pick and place magazines

TM and TMA serve pick and place tool changing arrangements. TMA 40 is described with continuous or indexing drives; the pocket and gripper must match the tool holder interface.

  • TMA 40 capacities: 24, 40, 60 or 80 tools
  • Continuous or indexing drive versions
  • Check the tool holder and gripper configuration

MAG-MT and Chainless technology

MAG-MT belongs to the multiple tool magazine range. Chainless technology moves tool pockets without a chain. Its stated capacity is specific to that system and does not describe every magazine.

  • Chainless tool pocket transport
  • Published Chainless capacity: 30–150 tools
  • Layout selected around the available machine space

Pallet exchange and linear handling

The production range includes rotary elevators for pallet exchange, plus translators and elevators for linear handling. Define the load and the required movement sequence before choosing an assembly.

  • Rotary elevators for pallet exchange
  • Translators and elevators for linear handling
  • Send the load, travel and support arrangement

Identify the CFT Rizzardi assembly

Founded in 1987, CFT Rizzardi develops cam driven motion systems and machine tool automation. Its range covers tool changers, magazines, pallet exchange and linear handling. CFT Automation and the cftautomation.it address refer to this manufacturer.

Keep the full CFT Rizzardi name in the enquiry so the identification plate can be matched to the right documentation. A machine can contain assemblies made by several companies. For a retrofit, identify both the machine builder and the manufacturer of the assembly being replaced.

Identification and document package

Start with a photograph of the complete identification plate. Preserve every letter, separator and suffix, then add a close view of the part marking. If a code is unreadable, send an assembly drawing and the relevant item position. State when a drawing belongs to a different machine revision.

Pictures of the mounting face and neighbouring parts help define the assembly boundaries. Include both the removed item and its installed position when possible. This gives the selection process a clear reference for handed parts and different installation orientations.

Tool holder, gripper and tool envelope

Provide the complete tool holder interface, the holders in use and the weight of the heaviest assembled tool. Add the maximum diameter and length, including any tools that need adjacent pockets to remain empty.

A gripper enquiry needs the locating and retention geometry; a pocket enquiry also needs its position and connection to the magazine. Use separate enquiry lines when similarly named assemblies are installed on different machines. Matching the family name is a starting point.

The installed interface and the intended assembly scope still need to be checked.

Magazine layout and exchange position

For a new magazine or changer, send top and side views with the principal dimensions. Mark the spindle position, tool transfer point, movement path and maintenance access. Show areas occupied by guards, services and chip removal equipment.

Photographs of the complete installation are useful when replacing a compact magazine. A layout should distinguish the fixed assembly envelope from the space swept by moving parts.

Record the machine reference points used for the dimensions so that the magazine drawing and the machine drawing can be compared on the same basis.

Drive, signals and cycle control

Record the installed motor, gearbox, supply details and position sensor designations. For a servo driven assembly, include the drive and control information available in the machine documentation. State whether the enquiry covers mechanics alone or also electrical equipment and cables.

A replacement sensor needs its marking, connector details and circuit reference. For a retrofit, define the input and output signals, home positions and exchange permissions.

Include the responsibility for control programming and commissioning in the project scope so that the equipment list has a clear boundary.

Supply boundaries and operating sequence

Separate the changer, magazine, base, grippers, drives and accessories in the equipment list. A pallet or linear handling enquiry should also define the load, centre of gravity, required movements and their sequence.

When replacing part of an existing line, identify the assemblies that will remain in use. For a new installation, describe the cycle from the home position through each transfer and back to home.

This makes the enquiry comparable across equipment options and identifies which connections belong to the machine and which belong to the proposed assembly.

Receiving and installation preparation

Agree the receiving checklist with the supply scope. Compare the marking and quantities against the documents, then check the fasteners, cables and accessories included in the quotation. Keep photographs of the packaging and identification plates before the assembly is released for installation.

A large magazine also needs a planned unloading and temporary positioning arrangement. Give the operating team the documents and the agreed inspection results together.

Mechanical installation and cycle verification should follow the documentation for the particular machine and assembly, with the responsible site personnel involved.

Prepare a usable equipment enquiry

An enquiry can cover both replacement parts and a complete assembly, but list each item separately. Give its model, designation, quantity, purpose and document reference.

Distinguish mandatory requirements from preferred options so that the proposed configuration can be compared with the project brief. Where information is incomplete, list what is available and identify who can answer technical questions.

For a repeat enquiry, attach the previous specification and mark the changes. A clear item list lets engineering review the interfaces while purchasing checks the same scope and quantities.
