HIWIN linear modules, axes and motion systems

Source HIWIN modules, motion axes and drives for machinery and automation. Send the model, motion requirements and layout; for a replacement, add photographs of the markings.

HG, EG and MG ball guideways

A rail and recirculating-bearing block form the linear guideway. Identify the series and complete variant from its marking, drawing and axis operating conditions.

  • HG: high loads and rigidity
  • EG: reduced block height and length
  • MGN: narrow; MGW: wide miniature guides
  • WE: wide rail; CG: O-Type arrangement

RG and QR roller guideways

Select roller guideways against the assembly load and rigidity requirements. SynchMotion variants provide smoother, quieter movement; specify the complete code for the required set.

  • RG: rollers with a 45° contact angle
  • QR: roller guideway with SynchMotion
  • CRG: guideway with a protective strip
  • EL: lubrication module for MG, HG and QH

HIWIN ballscrews, nuts and supports

A ballscrew converts rotation into linear motion. For a screw, nut or support-set replacement, match the variant, diameter, lead, length and machined ends to the drawing.

  • Precision ground and rolled variants
  • Super S, Super T and Super Z
  • R1: rotating nut with an integrated bearing
  • Fixed and supported-end screw units

KK and SK single-axis modules

Linear modules combine guidance and a motion drive. For a complete axis or its components, state the travel, load, installation orientation and installed motor.

  • KK: ballscrew with a U-shaped guideway
  • SK: SynchMotion movement
  • Range includes KC, KA, KS, KU, KE and KH
  • KU: enclosed construction

EM1 servomotors and E1/E2 servo drives

Motor or drive replacement requires matching power, feedback, connectors and machine control. Keep the full motor, drive and cable-set codes in the specification.

  • EM1: rated power from 50 W to 2 kW
  • Encoder variants: 17 or 23 bit
  • EM1: IP65; optional brake
  • E1/E2: STO and vibration suppression

LMSA, LMC, LMFA and LMT linear motors

HIWIN synchronous linear drives use permanent magnets. Define the moving component, magnet track, cooling arrangement and position feedback for a project or repair.

  • LMSA: iron-core construction
  • LMC: ironless construction
  • LMFA: iron core with water cooling
  • LMT: tubular construction

PG and H positioning measurement systems

A system can combine a linear guideway and a magnetic encoder. Match the readhead series, output signal, measuring length and connection to the control system.

  • PG: digital or analogue output
  • H: analogue output
  • Separate readheads are available
  • Match the set to the installed scale

Direct-drive rotary tables and industrial robots

Select a rotary axis or robot against the application and installation layout. Specify the model, working load, required motion and control-equipment scope.

  • Direct-drive tables: DMN, DMS, DMY and DMT
  • DMT: low profile and hollow shaft
  • Articulated robots RA605 and RA610
  • SCARA robots RS405 and RS410

Define the motion task and the equipment layout

Describe the operation before selecting a HIWIN axis. A machining feed, an inspection stage and a handling unit can have different requirements within the same machine. State the travel, moving load, orientation and working cycle. Include the tooling or workpiece carried by the axis.

Identify the guide system, drive and controls already selected. For a retrofit, add the existing axis designation and photographs of the installed assembly. Mark the components that will remain in use and those included in the enquiry.

Separate the required equipment configuration from the observed maintenance symptom.

Specify the guideway assembly

HIWIN offers ball guideways HG, EG, WE and miniature MG variants, alongside roller families such as RG and QR. HG addresses high loads and rigidity, while EG uses a lower assembly profile. WE uses a wide rail. Miniature MG includes the narrow MGN and wider MGW configurations.

Describe the required axis using its full rail and block designations, installation drawing and mounting positions.

For existing equipment, photograph the markings on both rail and block. Record the rail length, fixing holes, block shape, accuracy class and preload shown in the documentation. Identify seals, cover strips and lubrication accessories separately.

The EL lubrication module is intended for MG, HG and QH guideways.

Define a ballscrew axis and its supports

A ballscrew axis combines the screw, nut and supporting assemblies. HIWIN offers ground and rolled ballscrews as well as Super S, Super T and Super Z designs. R1 uses a rotating nut and an integrated bearing arrangement. Start the specification with the complete screw and nut codes.

Record the diameter, lead, required travel, overall length and the end machining drawing.

List the fixed and supported ends as separate assemblies. The support catalogue distinguishes AK, BK, EK, FK and LK from AF, BF, EF, FF, LF and LFA; WBK addresses higher axial loading. Include the support designations and their mounting drawings.

Identify lubrication and cooling options in the package. For a retrofit, add the current coupling and motor interface so the review covers the complete driven axis.

Choose the single-axis module configuration

KK combines a ballscrew with an optimised U-shaped guide, while SK uses SynchMotion for quieter and smoother movement. The current single-axis range also includes KC, KA, KS, KU, KE and KH. Use the complete module designation and its drawing to describe the configuration.

State the travel, mounting orientation, moving load and intended working cycle. Identify the motor arrangement and space reserved for its installation.

KU has a covered design. For KE, the manufacturer's full-cover description excludes KE30, KE70 and KE90. Specify the protection arrangement for the selected variant, along with sensors, motor adapter and connection accessories.

For a multi-axis installation, show how each module is supported and connected to the surrounding structure. Separate a complete module enquiry from a request for its ballscrew, guideway, motor or other identified component.

Match linear motors and position feedback

HIWIN linear motor families include iron-core LMSA, ironless LMC, water-cooled LMFA and tubular LMT. A component enquiry should identify the moving forcer and the magnet stator separately. Include the required travel, installation envelope and motion requirements.

For a new system, describe the selected guideway and the arrangement of moving cables. For an existing axis, provide motor markings and the current mechanical layout.

Position feedback belongs in the same equipment specification. HIWIN offers measurement systems integrated with a guideway and separate read heads. PG provides digital or analogue output options; H uses an analogue output. Record the read head, scale, signal interface and controller connection.

Where cooling is part of the selected motor configuration, include its connection layout.

Connect servo equipment to the machine controls

EM1 servomotors and E1 or E2 servo drives form part of the HIWIN motion equipment range. The drives include STO and functions for tuning and vibration suppression. Record the full motor and drive codes, supply requirements and encoder interface.

Add the brake configuration, connector details and cable designations. A drawing of the cabinet and installed motor helps describe the electrical and mechanical interfaces together.

For an existing machine, provide the controller type, communication connection and available drive documentation. Describe the intended control arrangement and the settings needed for the equipment review. If the enquiry covers several axes, list the motor and drive pairing for each one.

Include the wiring diagrams, parameter records and mounting drawings requested by the machine engineer. Keep these references linked to the same configuration in the quotation and equipment specification.

Plan rotary positioning and robotic equipment

HIWIN direct-drive rotary tables include DMN, DMS, DMY and DMT; DMT uses a low-profile design and a hollow shaft. RAB and RAS are multi-axis rotary arrangements for machining applications. Specify the required table configuration, mounting direction and tooling layout.

Show the surrounding fixtures and the available installation space. Record the load arrangement and control interfaces that the equipment engineer needs to review.

The current industrial robot range includes articulated RA605 and RA610, SCARA RS405 and RS410, and Cartesian Robot-KK. Describe the operation, workpiece and movement sequence when requesting robotic equipment.

Include the mounting layout, required working area and the interface with neighbouring equipment. Identify the end tooling and other included components separately. For a replacement component, reference the robot designation and its position in the relevant assembly drawing.

Prepare the equipment and component specification

Send one enquiry line for each HIWIN assembly or component, with its full designation and quantity. Attach the installation drawing, photographs and equipment requirements to that line. Distinguish a complete axis from separate mechanical and electrical items.

Identify the selected accessories and the components retained from the existing machine. For several machines, group the lines by their actual configuration and equipment reference.

Review a proposed package against the same list of drawings, interfaces and included items. Record the required manuals, wiring information and component identification documents. Add the delivery destination and any handling constraints for the assembled equipment.

Before acceptance, define the mounting, connection and documentation checks with the machine engineer. Retain the final component list for future maintenance and parts enquiries.
