- Specify the nominal hole size and drawing tolerance.
- Describe the preceding operation and allowance.
- Send the cutting length and tool holding arrangement.
Solid carbide burrs: 81 and 82
DueCi supplies burrs in several head shapes for edge and surface work. The head geometry, cut pattern and access to the work area are required selection information.
- 81: cylindrical shape without an end cut.
- 82: cylindrical shape with an end cut.
- Ball, pointed and conical head shapes are also listed.
- Send the material, head shape, diameter and complete code.
Special tools to customer drawings
DueCi develops and manufactures special tools from customer drawings. Define the finished workpiece and operation, then specify the required cutting geometry and inspection points.
- Source: Special tools in the 2024 catalogue.
- Send the drawing revision and workpiece material.
- Describe the operation sequence and mounting arrangement.
- Include quantities and inspection dimensions in the brief.
DueCi casting moulds and complementary tooling
DueCi also manufactures casting moulds and complementary automotive tooling. Define a complete mould enquiry separately from a replacement component for an existing mould.
- Gravity casting moulds.
- Low pressure casting and die casting moulds.
- Send the casting model and process information for a new mould.
- For a component, send its drawing, mould reference and revision.
Identify the complete tool code
Start with the full DueCi marking, including letters after the numerical code. Photograph the packaging and tool together. Catalogue series describe a family; the complete code identifies the dimensions and configuration needed for an enquiry. Keep the original designation in your item list.
If the label is damaged, send a photograph beside a ruler and describe the operation. List the cutting diameter, shank diameter, cutting length and overall length separately. Number each picture to match the corresponding item.
This gives the technical contact a clear basis for asking about missing dimensions.
Check dimensions and holder clearance
The catalogue example 103506 has a 6 mm cutting diameter, 16 mm cutting length, 50 mm overall length and 6 mm shank, with two flutes. Use this example to distinguish dimensions when describing another tool; it does not specify the dimensions of every family 10 cutter.
Include the available holder clearance, required projection and cavity depth. A longer tool may change the usable reach, while the shank and holder still need to fit the machine.
Mark the relevant dimensions on the part drawing and identify any shoulder or fixture that limits access to the cutting area.
Match the tool to the operation
Describe the workpiece material and the operation: roughing, finishing, slotting, contour milling or hole machining. Include the material designation and any hardness information from your process documentation.
For a repeated order, state whether the material and cutting operation have changed since the previous purchase.
Provide the required finished dimensions and surface requirements rather than selecting solely by tool appearance. For a corner radius cutter, identify the required radius. For a ball nose tool, describe the surface or cavity being machined.
Keep these requirements associated with the complete code so alternatives can be compared on the same basis.
Machine, holder and coolant information
Include the machine model, holder type and spindle interface in an equipment integration enquiry. Specify whether you are buying an existing tool by code or selecting a tool for a new process. Photographs of the assembled holder help explain the available space and intended projection.
State how coolant is supplied and whether the process uses an existing documented cutting regime. Send relevant setup information with the drawing.
The machine, holder and tool form one working arrangement, so the enquiry should identify the parts that are already installed and the items that are included in the requested supply.
Drilling and reaming requirements
For drilling, give the hole diameter, depth and whether it is through or blind. Describe the entry surface and the material. Include access restrictions from the drawing and identify the required drill configuration by its complete DueCi code where available. Keep dimensions and units explicit.
For reaming, include the finished hole tolerance, preparation operation and required working length. DueCi catalogue family D35L includes H7 reamers, but the selected diameter and code still need to match the drawing.
List drills and reamers as separate items when both are needed for the same operation, and show their quantities individually.
Special tools from a customer drawing
A special tool enquiry begins with a drawing or a dimensioned sketch. Specify the required cutting profile, shank connection and overall envelope. Include the workpiece material and explain which surfaces must be machined in the same operation. Identify the drawing revision used for the request.
If an existing special tool is available, photograph its marking and cutting geometry. State whether the task is to repeat that design or change it. List the quantity and the required inspection dimensions.
This keeps the intended result clear when a drawing, sample and older purchase reference contain different information about the same tool.
Moulds and auxiliary tooling
DueCi lists moulds for gravity casting, low pressure casting and die casting, together with complementary tooling. Begin a project enquiry with the casting drawing, alloy and production process. Distinguish a complete mould project from an individual insert, worn part or associated tooling item.
For an existing mould, provide its identification and the relevant assembly drawings. Show the position of the requested part and the mating surfaces. If production has modified the assembly, include the current revision.
State the equipment interfaces and the required delivery scope so the project description covers the assembly that will actually be installed.
Replacement and repeated purchases
For a worn tool, photograph the cutting edges, shank and packaging marking. State the required quantity and the operation where it is used. A repeated purchase is easier to identify when the previous code is retained alongside the machine or production line reference.
If you want an assessment of regrinding, describe the tool condition, current dimensions and coating. Specify whether you need new tools or a review of an existing sample.
Keep the request for restoration separate from the specification of a new tool, and include the remaining geometry and the intended operation after restoration.
Prepare the delivery item list
List the description, complete code, quantity and application for every item. Attach the matching photographs and drawings. For a mixed order of end mills, drills, reamers and tooling, keep each position on a separate line and allocate quantities to the relevant workshop or production line.
Include the destination, a technical contact and the required receiving documents. Review the proposed code, dimensions and configuration before ordering. Describe any packaging or identification requirements that help your receiving team allocate the tools.
For a project assembly, list the included components and the interfaces that need to be considered together.
