- State standby or prime power duty
- Provide required output, voltage and frequency
- Identify engine, alternator and controller separately
- Attach generator and component nameplate photographs
Holset turbochargers
Holset offers fixed geometry, wastegate and VGT designs. For a replacement, supply the turbocharger identification plate and engine ESN. Record the control arrangement and connections when defining a complete assembly or a specific component.
- Turbocharger identifier and engine information
- Control type and actuator configuration
- Housing orientation and connection details
- Specify a complete turbocharger or individual assembly
Injectors, pumps and fuel systems
Cummins produces common rail and legacy fuel systems. An injector or pump enquiry needs the full component number and engine identity. Add marking photographs, connector views and the existing injection system configuration to the requested item list.
- Identify injectors and pumps by full component number
- Verify injection configuration against the engine
- State quantity and associated mounting items
- Provide clear photographs of the removed assembly
Overhaul kits and mechanical components
Enquiries can cover pistons, liners, rings, bearings, gaskets and cylinder head components. Define the repair list using the engine identity, CPL and inspection results. State measured dimensions and the required assembly scope for the proposed kit.
- Include CPL and the replacement component list
- State standard or repair dimensions
- Separate block and cylinder head requirements
- List seals, gaskets and fasteners explicitly
Engine selection for an existing installation
Start with the installed engine model, ESN and the power requirement of the driven equipment. State whether the enquiry is for a replacement engine, a standby assembly or individual components. Include a nameplate photograph and describe the machine or generator in which the engine operates.
Define the scope of an engine assembly explicitly. List the accessories to be included, the assemblies retained from the existing equipment and the mounting interfaces.
Photographs showing the engine in position help explain constraints that are difficult to convey through a model designation alone.
For a new installation, provide the operating duty, required output and speed, ambient conditions and installation drawing. Describe the driven load and the available space for service access. These inputs help prepare a specification covering the engine and its supporting equipment together.
Generator sets for a power supply project
Specify required output in kW or kVA, voltage, frequency and the intended duty. A standby source and a prime power installation have different project requirements. Include a load list and identify large motors or other loads whose starting conditions must be considered in the technical enquiry.
Describe the installation arrangement, such as an open frame, enclosure or a dedicated plant room. Add requirements for switching, ventilation, fuel supply and the available footprint.
A site drawing and operating temperature range help define the generator package and associated equipment before procurement.
For an existing generator set, supply its own model and serial number as well as the engine ESN. Identify the component being replaced by its individual marking. This connects the enquiry to the set documentation and distinguishes engine parts from alternator and controller requirements.
Identifying an engine using ESN and CPL
Take a clear photograph of the complete engine dataplate. Record the model, ESN, CPL and any rated power and speed information shown. Keep the original photograph with the enquiry so worn or ambiguous characters can be checked against the copied designation before component selection.
The engine serial number links a Cummins engine to its parts information. The CPL is useful when selecting an overhaul kit. Provide both identifiers when available, together with the component description and full part number. Retain any suffix that appears in the original designation.
Service kits and Fleetguard filtration items
Prepare a maintenance list from the actual installation and its service schedule. Record the full numbers of existing filters and the quantity of each type. Photographs of filter markings are useful when checking a procurement list carried forward from an earlier service or another machine.
Cummins catalogue 6519959 associates service kit numbers with engine models and package variants. Keep the CPAK, COMPAK or FPAK configuration visible when using those catalogue references. The listed kit number is a starting reference for the corresponding catalogue entry and engine configuration.
Overhaul scope and mechanical measurements
Provide an inspection report for a planned overhaul. Identify which components the workshop will replace, which it will retain and which dimensions have been measured. Separate cylinder block work from cylinder head requirements so that the proposed parts list reflects the chosen repair scope.
Record the full markings of removed pistons, liners, bearings and other mechanical components. State whether the workshop requires standard or repair dimensions.
Add the relevant catalogue illustration and position numbers when available, and include gaskets, seals and fasteners as distinct procurement requirements.
Turbochargers, fuel components and connections
For a Holset turbocharger, photograph its identification plate and include the engine ESN. Specify the existing control arrangement, actuator and connection orientation.
If the enquiry covers an assembly rather than the complete turbocharger, name that assembly and identify it in the relevant parts illustration.
For injectors and fuel pumps, retain the full component number and provide clear marking photographs. Include connector and drive details where relevant. Record the injection configuration of the installed engine and list any associated seals or mounting items required by the repair specification.
Controller panels and electrical assemblies
Copy the complete controller or panel designation, including its suffix. Attach views of the front face, rear connections and identification label.
Provide the generator model and serial number, then specify whether the required item is a complete panel, a display or another assembly identified by the workshop.
For a sensor, wiring harness or electrical component, include the part number and relevant circuit drawing. Photograph connectors and label the installation location.
A damaged harness should be shown with its branches identified so the replacement scope can be understood from the supplied evidence.
Preparing an enquiry and receiving the delivery
A useful enquiry contains the equipment designation, identifiers, requested component or operating duty, quantity and delivery destination. Add a contact for technical clarification.
For several engines, use an item table linking each component and photograph to the appropriate equipment or engine serial number.
Separate parts required for an immediate repair from reserve stock and planned maintenance. List complete assemblies and individual components distinctly.
Include required documents, packing requirements and package identification so the proposed supply can be checked against the operational purpose of each item.
Review complete item numbers and assembly content before confirming the procurement specification. On receipt, compare markings, quantities and packaging with the agreed list. Retain label photographs and the final item schedule with the equipment records to support future maintenance enquiries.
Availability, pricing and lead times are established for each enquiry. This page does not establish authorised dealer status, universal parts interchangeability or certification for every configuration; these conditions are checked when preparing the proposal.
