Creaform scanners and measuring systems

Select a Creaform system for your measuring task: HandySCAN, Go!SCAN, MetraSCAN, HandyPROBE or MaxSHOT. Define the scanner, software and accessories in one specification.

HandySCAN 3D BLACK

A handheld laser scanner for dimensional inspection and reverse engineering. Send the complete BLACK or BLACK Elite model designation when requesting a scanner or replacement accessory. Identifying the installed generation helps define the required configuration and avoid mismatched components.

  • The current BLACK series states an accuracy of 0.025 mm.
  • Surface scanning produces a mesh for subsequent processing.
  • For a system quotation: model, application and kit contents.
  • For a replacement: serial number, photographs and item marking.

HandySCAN 3D EVO

The EVO family incorporates a display for viewing scan data and operating guidance. EVO, EVO Plus and EVO Elite have distinct specifications. For a new installation, define the required variant; for an existing scanner, identify the generation before selecting supporting accessories.

  • An integrated 4.3-inch touchscreen supports the workflow.
  • EVO, EVO Plus and EVO Elite are separate configurations.
  • Provide the application and the allowable dimensional deviation.
  • Specify software modules and workstation requirements as well.

HandySCAN 3D MAX

The MAX family addresses large parts and structures. A useful enquiry describes object dimensions, access around the part and the measurement location. Photograph the identification label of an installed MAX or MAX Elite: the current generation does not define every older scanner configuration.

  • Suitable applications include large housings, assemblies and structures.
  • State overall dimensions and which surfaces can be reached.
  • Discuss the mobile working arrangement and equipment package.
  • Select any Mobility Kit against the specific scanner configuration.

Go!SCAN 3D and SPARK

Go!SCAN uses white light to capture surface geometry and colour. Its applications include product design, prototypes and digital models. For a Go!SCAN SPARK enquiry, distinguish a complete scanner package from a specific accessory and describe how the resulting data will be used.

  • Geometry and colour are captured in the scanning workflow.
  • Applications include design, prototyping and reverse engineering.
  • Describe the object material and the appearance of its surface.
  • Identify the required output and the downstream software workflow.

MetraSCAN 3D and C-Track

MetraSCAN optical measuring systems serve production quality control. An enquiry should identify the scanner, the C-Track generation, any probe and the software configuration. This is particularly useful when adding equipment to existing BLACK, BLACK Elite or 750 Elite installations.

  • The system is intended for dimensional inspection of parts.
  • The current lineup supports multiple operating configurations.
  • A HandyPROBE can complement surface scanning with probing.
  • Confirm the generation and contents of the complete installation.

HandyPROBE: contact measurement

HandyPROBE is a portable optical coordinate measuring system with a wireless probe. It measures selected points and geometric features rather than only collecting a surface mesh. Requests for supporting items should identify the probe, tip and associated measuring system.

  • Contact probing addresses individual points and geometric features.
  • The system uses optical positioning of the probe.
  • State the generation of the measuring system already installed.
  • Include photographs of the tip and its connecting interface.

MaxSHOT 3D: photogrammetry

MaxSHOT supports optical measurement of large objects and the associated coordinate framework. Photogrammetry and surface scanning address different parts of the workflow.

Identify the scanner already in use and list the required components of the measuring package rather than requesting an unspecified camera kit.

  • Photogrammetry supports large parts and assemblies.
  • Integration with Creaform measuring technologies is documented.
  • List instruments already used at the measurement location.
  • Separate each required accessory in the enquiry specification.

Creaform.OS, VXmodel and software

Creaform.OS supports data acquisition, while Creaform Metrology Suite provides application modules. For an existing VXelements, VXmodel or VXinspect installation, send the exact product name and version. Specify whether the requirement concerns a licence, an update or an additional module.

  • Scan-to-CAD prepares meshes and supports the CAD workflow.
  • Inspection addresses dimensional inspection of manufactured parts.
  • Identify the installed version and the workstation being used.
  • Describe the licence requirement and the intended output.

Targets and positioning accessories

Send requests for Creaform targets and positioning accessories with the scanner designation and photographs of the item and its packaging. Consumables and reusable measuring-system accessories should be listed separately, so that the proposed supply can be checked item by item.

  • State the target type, dimensions and required quantity.
  • Include any item reference printed on the packaging.
  • Identify the instrument that will use the consumable.
  • List holders and mounting accessories as separate items.

Cables, power and connections

A cable or power-item enquiry needs photographs of both ends, the item marking and the instrument model. Explain where it connects: scanner, computer, tracker or another unit. This gives the selection process a defined interface and allows the proposed package to be checked before ordering.

  • Photograph connectors from several angles, including their ends.
  • State the cable marking, length and number required.
  • For power equipment, include a clear photograph of its label.
  • Identify the unit and connection served by the replacement item.

Calibration accessories and kit contents

Identify the scanner and the existing kit when requesting a calibration accessory. For maintenance planning, distinguish replacement of a physical item, the instrument calibration procedure and verification of the installed system’s measuring performance.

Describe the required work and documents in the enquiry.

  • Photograph the kit and all available identification markings.
  • Explain which component is damaged or has been lost.
  • Provide a list of the components that remain available.
  • Include the required documentation in the request specification.

R-Series and automated quality control

R-Series covers scanners for automated inspection. An upgrade enquiry should describe the robot, mounting arrangement, software and measurement task. For an individual component, send the drawing or item reference from the existing system documentation and clarify the intended scope of replacement.

  • Robot-mounted scanners address automated measurement applications.
  • Describe the inspection cycle and the type of part inspected.
  • List the equipment and software already installed in the cell.
  • Distinguish an individual component from a complete system requirement.

Choose the measurement workflow

Begin with the deliverable: a colour model, geometry for reverse engineering or an inspection report against a drawing. Go!SCAN addresses shape and colour acquisition; HandySCAN provides handheld laser scanning; MetraSCAN and HandyPROBE address measuring-system applications.

Discuss MAX and MaxSHOT separately for large objects and coordinate requirements.

Provide part and workplace photographs, dimensions, material and surface access. For repeated inspection, attach a drawing identifying the measured features. This information defines a scanner family and a practical equipment package.

Accuracy, resolution and acceptance

Measurement accuracy, mesh resolution and volumetric accuracy describe different characteristics. A value published for one model does not specify every Creaform instrument.

Provide the tolerances of the actual features, object dimensions and report requirements, then compare specifications for the selected configuration.

Define the sample part, accessible surfaces, reporting coordinates and required documents. A clear acceptance task connects the scanner, software and accessories to the production workflow.

Identify replacement parts and accessories

Send the instrument label, complete model designation, serial number and any marking on the required item. Include dimensions and the mounting location for a mechanical accessory, or both connector ends for a cable.

Mark the item in an existing diagram or kit list whenever documentation is available.

State the quantity and requirement: damage, loss, unreliable connection or an additional kit. List the remaining components separately to distinguish an individual replacement from a complete package.

Reverse engineering and CAD data

Surface scanning is the acquisition stage. The next steps may involve mesh cleaning, extraction of geometric entities and CAD modelling. Specify the destination software and which features need to remain editable.

This helps select the instrument and software workflow together for the reverse engineering task.

Describe the output: printable mesh, extracted geometry or a model for design modification. For existing systems, identify the VXelements, VXmodel or other software version, application modules and licence requirements.

Quality control at the production site

Inspection planning includes part referencing, access to measured features and a repeatable working sequence. Explain whether operators inspect individual parts or a production stream, whether the object can be moved and which features require contact probing.

Include the drawing and the desired reporting structure.

For an automated cell, provide the layout, existing equipment and cycle description. For a portable kit, describe the working conditions and movement between inspection locations.

The measuring-system configuration can then be discussed alongside the installed equipment, the inspection task and the necessary software.

Maintenance and calibration enquiries

Describe symptoms and include photographs of damage or the software message. Identify the software version, connected units and the actions preceding the issue. A list of accessories currently used with the instrument helps establish which physical item or part of the workflow needs attention.

Distinguish replacement of a missing calibration accessory from a calibration procedure or verification of measuring performance. Define the expected result and required document.

If possible, provide example measurement data and photographs so the enquiry can be assessed against the actual equipment configuration.

Package contents, documents and delivery

List the scanner, tracker or probe, software modules, workstation and accessories separately. Provide quantities and required documents for each item. When expanding an existing installation, identify equipment already available so that reusable components can be considered in the proposed package.

State the destination and delivery arrangement. Following technical clarification, check model designations, packaging and kit contents. The specification should connect each item to the measurement task and existing installation.

Availability, price, lead time, licences and required documents are checked for each enquiry. This page does not establish official dealer or certified service-centre status. Accessory compatibility is assessed against the specific model and system generation.
