Festo pneumatic and electric automation
Specify Festo components and motion packages from the application, load and control layout. For installed equipment, send the complete identification of each assembly.
DSBC and ADN-S pneumatic cylinders
Festo lists DSBC as an ISO cylinder and ADN-S as a compact short-stroke cylinder. Select the actuator from the motion task and retain the full ordering code when replacing an installed unit.
- Separate families: DSBC and ADN-S.
- ADN-S has a magnetic piston for position sensing.
- Specify stroke, mounting and the complete existing designation.
VUVG solenoid valves
The manufacturer identifies VUVG as an air solenoid valve for individual connection. Define the valve function and installation arrangement separately from the electrical connection and required accessories.
- Product family: VUVG.
- Retain the complete valve designation.
- Provide port arrangement and coil identification for replacement.
MS compressed-air preparation
Festo documents an MS-series air-preparation combination in a pneumatic system. Describe the required assembly and identify replacement elements independently, using the complete code of the installed unit.
- Documented family: MS air preparation.
- Distinguish a complete assembly from a service element.
- Supply connection details and the installed unit label.
CMMT-AS servo drives and EGC axes
An official Festo application uses a CMMT-AS servo drive and an EGC toothed-belt axis. Specify the mechanical axis, motor, drive and cable set as separate elements of the requested motion package.
- CMMT-AS is a servo-drive family.
- An EGC axis is documented in the application.
- Supply each installed component label for replacement.
CPX-AP-I remote I/O
CPX-AP-I connects remote sensors and actuators. It can operate independently or integrate with CPX-AP-A through AP communication; the requested module must be specified within the intended control architecture.
- Product family: CPX-AP-I remote I/O.
- AP integration with CPX-AP-A is documented.
- Provide module codes and the control-network drawing.
SMT-8M-A proximity sensors
The manufacturer lists SMT-8M-A as a proximity-sensor family. Use the complete designation, such as SMT-8M-A-PS-24V-E-0,3-M12, rather than the family name alone when replacing a sensor.
- Official example: part number 574337.
- Retain the full sensor designation.
- Describe cable length, connector and the installation position.
Start with the motion task
Describe the operation before selecting a component: moving, clamping, feeding, positioning or checking a workpiece. For each motion, provide the direction, required travel, load and intended cycle. A machine sketch should show the available installation space. These inputs help divide the application into an actuator, its control and the supporting components that need to be included in a coherent specification.
State whether the enquiry covers one item, a functional assembly or a coordinated package. If a designer has already issued a bill of materials, attach the document and identify its revision. List requested changes separately. Define the supply boundary for brackets, connections, cables and accessories, including which items are already available at the installation. This makes the proposed scope easier to compare and approve.
Pneumatic actuation
For a new pneumatic motion, describe the mechanical arrangement and provide the available compressed-air conditions. Include relevant environmental and duty information. Cylinder selection should be discussed together with its mounting, adjacent components and service access. The DSBC or ADN-S family designation is a useful starting point, while the final enquiry needs the required configuration and the way it fits into the machine.
For an installed cylinder, send the complete code and photographs of its label, mounting and connections. Explain whether the machine arrangement will remain the same. If only a service item is required, mark it on an assembly drawing. Operational spares and parts for an immediate repair can be included in one enquiry, provided the quantities and purpose of each line remain clear.
Valves and air preparation
Identify the role of each valve in the pneumatic circuit and show the connection layout. Separate individual valves, mounting elements and electrical connections in a package enquiry. A VUVG request should retain the complete designation of the intended version. If some components are already installed, attach their labels and explain which parts of the present pneumatic system will remain in use.
For air preparation, provide the consumer arrangement and the available air requirements. When replacing an item in an MS assembly, show the section sequence and identify the relevant unit. List a complete assembly separately from a service element. This allows a maintenance requirement and a new functional package to be discussed without assuming that their component lists or connection arrangements are identical.
Electric motion packages
Provide travel, load, orientation and the intended operating cycle for an electric axis. Add a mounting sketch and the available control-system information. Divide the requested package into the mechanical axis, motor, servo drive and cable set. The documented use of CMMT-AS and EGC in a Festo application provides a product reference; a new application still needs its own defined component combination.
If an existing motor or controller must be retained, include its full label and the relevant installation documents. Describe the drawings and saved settings available to the maintenance team. For a retrofit, separate the intended change from the present configuration. This establishes a clear starting point for the technical discussion and helps keep necessary connections and accessories within the agreed scope of the quotation.
Control architecture and sensors
For remote I/O, attach a network drawing and a list of devices that need to be connected. Identify CPX-AP-I modules by their complete codes and show their position in the architecture. Explain whether the requirement concerns a replacement, an extension or a new system. Information about the installed controller and connections supports a useful discussion of integration and the component list.
For a sensor, provide its label, mounting position and the relevant connection drawing. Expand the SMT-8M-A family name to the complete ordering designation, including its cable and connector version. Number similar positions in a photograph when several sensors are present. Keep modules, sensors, cables and connection elements as distinct lines in the specification, each with its own quantity and intended installation position.
Replacement on installed equipment
When equipment has stopped, share the installed component identification and describe the observed fault. Distinguish a replacement item that has already been selected from questions that are still being investigated. Photographs, a circuit drawing and the component list can be sent together. This keeps the technical question connected to a specific machine position and a clearly described requirement rather than a general family name.
If a different version is being considered, identify the dimensions, functions and connections that must be retained. Put agreed differences into the specification before ordering. The customer's responsible technical party decides whether a change to the machine design is acceptable. The supply request should identify the particular version approved for that machine or project, together with the accessories required for its installation.
Documentation and export scope
For every line, provide a complete designation, quantity and the source of identification. Where a catalogue page, nameplate photograph and bill of materials describe one assembly, attach them together. Identify the project revision and mark changes to the original list. For a package, separate main components, connections, mounting parts and operational spares so that the scope can be checked systematically before a quotation is agreed.
For an export enquiry, identify the destination country and provide packaging and document requirements. Explain any project-specific rules for item identification. The requested marking language, accompanying documents and packing arrangement should be considered together with the final specification. These inputs link the engineering requirement with the receiving process without assuming that one documentation package applies to every product, destination or project.
Prepare a useful quotation request
The enquiry form can carry a list of part numbers, a single replacement or the scope of a new automation system. Describe the machine or process and attach the available documents. An unidentified item can be introduced with photographs and its installation position. The initial review can then establish which additional details are needed, keeping the enquiry linked to the original request and its technical context.
Before ordering, check complete codes, quantities, supply boundaries and agreed differences. If a project needs staged deliveries, divide the list into identifiable groups. A technical contact and a purchasing contact can be included in the same message. The quotation should reflect the agreed scope, with repair items, new-machine components and supporting accessories distinguishable from one another throughout the specification and acceptance discussion.
Availability, price, lead time, origin, documents and export terms are agreed for the specified scope. Dealer status and universal interchangeability are not claimed. Alternative versions require technical review; software availability and licensing conditions are checked separately.
