Specify a ZwickRoell testing machine, hardness tester or fixture set around your material, test standard and laboratory requirements.
ZwickRoell machines and systems
Choose the test direction. Attach an existing machine specification, specimen drawing or fixture list to make the enquiry precise.
Universal testing machines
AllroundLine, ProLine and zwickiLine cover the force range from 0.5 to 250 kN for tension, compression and flexure tests. Specify the nominal force, test-area height, test speed and drive type. The wider family of universal machines reaches 2500 kN.
For quotation: model, test task, configuration and quantity.
Hardness testers
ZwickRoell and Emco-Test hardness testers cover Rockwell, Vickers, Brinell, Knoop, Shore and IRHD methods, from manual instruments to automated systems. State the method, load range, turret type and indentation evaluation software. More than 20,000 instruments are installed worldwide.
For quotation: model, test task, configuration and quantity.
Extensometers
Extensometers measure specimen strain: clip-on and sensor-arm contact units, plus video and laser optical systems. They suit metals, plastics, composites and high-temperature testing up to 2000 °C. Specify gauge length, measuring range and test temperature.
For quotation: model, test task, configuration and quantity.
Load cells
Xforce load cells include Precision P, High-precision HP and HP+, working K and K+, high-capacity and dynamic versions. Quasi-static range 5 N to 2500 kN, dynamic 1 to 1000 kN, accuracy classes to ISO 7500-1 and ASTM E4. The testControl II electronics read the sensor identification automatically.
For quotation: model, test task, configuration and quantity.
Specimen grips
Grips for tension, compression and flexure: screw, spring-loaded, pneumatic, hydraulic, wedge and pincer designs from 0.02 to 2500 kN at temperatures from −70 to +250 °C. Selection depends on specimen material and shape, gripping force and loading arrangement.
For quotation: model, test task, configuration and quantity.
Impact testers
Pendulum impact testers and drop weight machines determine impact strength using Charpy, Izod, Dynstat, Brugger and tensile impact methods. Pendulum energy ranges from 5.5 to 750 J, the Amsler HIT series covers 230 to 2000 J, and high-energy machines reach 100,000 J.
For quotation: model, test task, configuration and quantity.
Electronics and software
testControl II electronics and testXpert software form the measuring core of the system: 24-bit resolution, sampling up to 400 kHz, six synchronized slots and an EtherCAT interface. testXpert ships with more than 800 pre-configured test programs and runs on Windows 10 and 11.
For quotation: model, test task, configuration and quantity.
Environmental chambers
Chambers and furnaces provide test conditions from −80 to +360 °C, with high-temperature systems reaching +2200 °C. A 37 °C climatic chamber and fluid baths cover medical applications. Specify the range, dimensions and how the unit integrates with the machine.
For quotation: model, test task, configuration and quantity.
Automated testing systems
roboTest robotic systems and the compact ALEX handle specimens, measure cross-sections and sort results. ALEX works from as few as 10 specimens, while roboTest families hold up to 400 specimens. Over 900 systems have been delivered, around 40 new ones each year.
For quotation: model, test task, configuration and quantity.
Fatigue testing systems
Dynamic systems test fatigue behavior: servohydraulic frames HC 10–25 kN, HA 50–500 kN and HB 50–2500 kN, vibrophores, electrodynamic machines and high-speed testing. Standards include ISO 12106, ASTM E606 and DIN 50100.
For quotation: model, test task, configuration and quantity.
Equipment selection inputs
Specimen material and shape, standard and method, nominal forces, temperature range, throughput and protocol requirements for the test report.
Components for an installed machine
Machine type and type index, serial number, item designation from the parts list and quantity. Photographs of the marking link the component to the exact configuration.
Identify the series and type index
ZwickRoell manufactures its own testing machines, hardness testers and accessories; the AllroundLine, ProLine and zwickiLine families differ by force range and intended use. Copy the type, type index and serial number from the nameplate.
Without the type index, several frame, test-area and drive variants remain possible. If the series marking is illegible, attach a photo of the machine and its control panel: together these usually identify the generation and year, and therefore the compatibility of components and electronics.
Specification for a new laboratory
For a new system, describe the specimen material and shape, the test method and standard, nominal forces and expected deformations. Add throughput: specimens per shift, planned temperature testing and any automation requirement.
This set lets the frame, load cell, extensometer, grips and software be matched in a single configuration, and the documents your laboratory must accept are agreed in advance.
Replacing an installed component
To replace a component of an existing machine, send the item designation from the parts list, the machine serial number and a photo of the installed part. State the nominal force and mounting type, and for electronics the testControl generation.
If the item is discontinued, we select a compatible version or propose a modernization: replacing the control electronics and drive returns the machine to a current configuration.
Load cells and calibration
Load cells are selected by nominal force, accuracy class and operating conditions: cyclic tests require the dynamic series, high-temperature work a special execution. Clarify the range you test in and your calibration requirements.
Accuracy is verified to ISO 7500-1 and ASTM E4; ZwickRoell laboratories perform more than 12,000 calibrations per year, including for other manufacturers machines.
Extensometers for your method
The choice depends on the material, expected strain and temperature. Contact clip-on systems are simple and accurate for stiff specimens, while non-contact optical systems suit brittle and high-temperature testing up to 2000 °C. Gauge length, measuring range and strain rate are required.
For video systems, clarify lighting and background because marker detection depends on them.
Grips for tensile testing
Grips follow specimen shape and required force: screw grips for general work, pneumatic grips for series testing, hydraulic grips for high loads from 10 to 2500 kN. State material, dimensions, temperature and required repeatability of tightening.
List jaw inserts and replaceable faces separately: they wear faster than the grip body.
Impact testing and specimen preparation
Choose the method — Charpy, Izod, Dynstat or Brugger — and the fracture energy. 5 to 750 J, drop weight machines work up to 100,000 J. Specimen holders, knives and temperature conditioning matter because brittleness is evaluated over a temperature range.
Clarify specimen dimensions and any feeding automation.
Hardness testers and consumables
State the method and load range: universal instruments combine Rockwell, Vickers, Brinell and Knoop, dedicated series cover Shore and IRHD. Consumables include indenters, reference blocks and anvils; components include the turret, optics and load application system.
For series testing, add the indentation evaluation software and protocol requirements.
What to agree before ordering
Fix the supply scope: individual components, an accessory kit or a complete system, quantities and document requirements. Give the full designation and machine compatibility for each item.
Confirmation of applicability and completeness is agreed per position at quotation; stock, price and lead time are not stated in advance.
Manufacturer and product families
ZwickRoell is a family-owned German manufacturer of materials testing machines headquartered in Ulm, developing and producing its own frames, electronics, sensors and software.
Its portfolio spans universal and dynamic testing machines, hardness testers, impact testers, automated systems and creep testing equipment for more than twenty industries. In an enquiry, use the designation found on the actual machine rather than the umbrella brand alone.
