Specify Bihl+Wiedemann gateways, field modules, power supplies and accessories for an ASi system. For replacement components, provide the complete BW article number and circuit diagram.
AS-Interface system components
Identify each device’s function: controller communication, I/O, IO-Link, safety or power. Retain a separate article reference for every component.
AS-Interface gateways
Connect an ASi network to the installation controller. Specify the upstream industrial network, ASi generation, installed article number and required system scope. For a replacement, include the gateway label and connection diagram.
Keep power supplies, terminal components and other accessories as separately identified items. Example article in this product group: BWU3852.
Digital I/O modules
Connect sensors and actuators through ASi input and output modules. Prepare a channel list with the connected device, signal direction and power arrangement. Identify whether sensor power comes from ASi or a separate AUX supply.
Preserve the complete article number when purchasing a replacement for an installed module. Example article in this product group: BWU4230.
ASi / IO-Link masters
Specify the IO-Link master separately from its connected sensors and actuators. Record the required ports, device models, power arrangement and cable connections. For an existing installation, include the master label and current device list.
For an extension, identify the additional devices independently from the existing equipment. Example article in this product group: BWU4386.
Safety monitors and gateways
Identify the monitor or safety gateway by its complete marking and documented version. Include the protective-device schematic and configuration reference. Separate the monitor, safety I/O and connected protective devices in the purchase list.
Define the equipment supply scope and the site’s requirements for subsequent commissioning. Example article in this product group: BWU3953.
Analog I/O modules
State the documented electrical signal, number of channels and connection arrangement. Identify the sensor and ASi module separately. Preserve units, ranges and channel tags in the enquiry.
For a replacement, attach the installed module label and the applicable circuit diagram rather than only the measured process variable. Example article in this product group: BWU4420.
ASi power supplies
Specify the power supply from its article number, documented electrical parameters and segment diagram. Distinguish ASi network power from auxiliary load power. For new equipment, provide the connected-device list and power requirements.
Identify terminals and mounting accessories included in the required scope.
Cabling and chip cards
List cable assemblies with their designation, length, connectors and quantity. Associate chip cards with the relevant device. Identify bases and connecting components separately from electronic modules.
Photographs of both ends or a dimensioned assembly drawing can support the specification of an installed cable.
ASIMON360 and software
Bihl+Wiedemann lists ASIMON360, ASi Control Tools360 and diagnostic software. State the product currently used, its version and the connected equipment.
Describe the task, such as configuration or diagnostics, and identify the required software or licence scope separately from the physical components.
Selection inputs
Controller model, industrial network, ASi generation, module list, signals and power arrangement. Identify new equipment and the existing components retained at the site.
Components for an installed system
Complete BW article number, version, label photograph, connection diagram and quantity. List cables, bases and cards independently.
Define the ASi system before choosing devices
Bihl+Wiedemann supplies automation components centred on AS-Interface. A procurement list may contain a gateway, field modules, safety devices, power supplies and connecting accessories.
Start with the required function of the installation and distinguish a new network, an extension and maintenance of an existing machine.
For new equipment, provide the controller interface, field-device list and electrical drawings. For maintenance, retain each installed component’s complete marking.
Link all items to their equipment tags so the gateway, field modules and accessories can be discussed as one system while remaining separate purchase positions.
State which components are already available at the site. This defines the boundary between the existing installation and the requested equipment package.
Gateway and controller interface
The gateway transfers data between ASi modules and the host controller. Select the upstream interface from the actual control-system requirements.
Keep the controller model, network protocol and installed gateway reference together; the general term AS-Interface does not identify the controller-side connection.
Include the ASi generation, segment arrangement and existing module list. Record hardware and software versions from the equipment documentation. For a repeat purchase, add the previous agreed specification and a current label photograph.
For a changed design, list the new requirements separately from the removed device’s characteristics.
Define the supply boundary for terminals, cards and connecting accessories. Retain the applicable device-description file reference alongside the control project when available.
I/O channels and IO-Link devices
Create a channel schedule showing the sensor or actuator, input or output function, electrical requirements and connector. For digital modules, identify how connected devices receive power.
A short warehouse description such as ASi module should be supplemented with the installed article number and circuit position.
For IO-Link, identify the master and every connected device independently. Record the required ports, power arrangement and connection cables. Include the sensor documentation and IODD reference where used in the project.
Distinguish spare capacity in an existing installation from additional ports required by an extension.
Show the mounting location and physical connections. Identify bases or connector assemblies that remain on the machine, and list any replacements as separate purchase items.
Safety equipment and project scope
Record the safety monitor or gateway article number, version and role in the machine. Supply the protective-device schematic and configuration-project reference. Keep safety modules, emergency-stop devices and other connected equipment associated with their own markings and circuit tags.
Describe the required supply as individual components or a defined equipment package. List requirements for the documentation delivered with the devices.
State which existing components and functions are retained, and distinguish the purchase of equipment from site configuration and commissioning activities.
The responsible site specialists plan the verification of the safety function after installation. Their project requirements should be available during equipment selection so the requested configuration can be assessed against the actual machine.
Analog signals and power distribution
For analog modules, provide the electrical signal type, channel count, documented range and connection arrangement. Identify the sensor separately from the interface module. A process description such as temperature or pressure should be accompanied by the sensor’s electrical-output specification.
For power supplies, preserve the complete article number, electrical ratings and segment diagram. Distinguish ASi network power from auxiliary power for loads. A new-system enquiry should include the connected-device list and the power requirements recorded in the relevant technical documents.
Keep channel and power information linked to the current drawing revision. List spare units for stores separately from components intended for immediate installation, including the quantity and unit of purchase for each position.
Cables, software and repeat procurement
For cables, provide the designation, length, both connection ends and quantity. Identify distributor or base components by their own reference and associated devices. For chip cards, name the equipment with which they are used. Distinguish a complete assembly from an individual accessory.
Software enquiries should name the installed product, version, connected equipment and intended task. Keep licences and software packages separate from electronic modules. Diagnostic messages can be attached with the device reference and a short account of the observed issue.
For repeat orders, preserve complete article references and the agreed component list. Record differences in quantity or configuration explicitly. On receipt, compare markings and package contents with the confirmed specification and retain the final documents against the site equipment tags.
Selection and supply scope
Availability, price and lead time are established during quotation. Dealer status, interchangeability of different article numbers and documents for a particular configuration are not claimed in advance. Safety equipment is assessed against the installation project requirements.
Send the technical requirement
Send the project specification or article list with quantities, a work contact and delivery destination.
