Vicor Modular Power Portfolio & Component Series
High-efficiency DC-DC converters, bus conversion modules, and point-of-load regulators:
DCM Isolated Regulated DC-DC Converters
We supply high-power-density Vicor DCM isolated regulated DC-DC converter modules engineered with high-frequency zero-voltage switching (ZVS) resonant topology.
Available in board-level ChiP (Converter housed in Package) form factors and ruggedized VIA (Vicor Integrated Adapter) chassis-mount packages featuring integrated EMI filtering and transient suppression.
The DCM family provides high galvanic isolation up to 4,242 VDC and accepts broad input voltage windows ranging from low-voltage 9–50 VDC up to high-voltage 160–420 VDC industrial buses.
DCM modules are deployed extensively across airborne avionics, railway traction controls, robotics, and distributed telecommunications power networks. With electrical efficiency reaching up to 96%, heat dissipation is minimized, eliminating the necessity for heavy forced-air fan assemblies.
Comprehensive autonomous protection against overvoltage, output short-circuits, and thermal runaway ensures continuous reliable operation in mission-critical hardware.
Power ratings from 100 to 1,300 W per module with density up to 1,244 W/in³. ChiP and VIA packages.
BCM High-Density Bus Converter Modules
We procure high-efficiency Vicor BCM (Bus Converter Module) isolated power converters operating on patented Sine Amplitude Converter (SAC) resonant technology.
BCM modules transform DC bus voltages at fixed transformation ratios K (ranging from 1/8 to 1/32) with peak electrical efficiencies reaching 98.8%.
A paramount architectural advantage of the BCM series is inherently symmetrical bidirectional power processing: units step down primary high-voltage 400–800 VDC buses to safe 48 VDC or 12 VDC distribution levels while instantaneously returning regenerative energy from motor drives back to the primary source without external switching circuitry.
Operating at resonant switching frequencies above 1 MHz, BCM units exhibit ultra-low output impedance and instantaneous transient response to step loads. Modules can be paralleled into high-power multi-kilowatt arrays without external current-sharing controllers.
Peak efficiency up to 98.8%. Inherent bidirectional power flow and seamless multi-module paralleling.
FPA Factorized Power Architecture (PRM & VTM)
We provide Vicor Factorized Power Architecture (FPA) modular power conversion systems composed of matched PRM (Pre-Regulator Module) non-isolated buck-boost regulators and VTM (Voltage Transformation Module) current multipliers.
FPA architecture decouples voltage regulation from voltage scaling and isolation.
The PRM converts unregulated power into an efficient 48 VDC Factorized Bus with 0.1% regulation accuracy, while the miniature VTM placed millimeters from the load chip steps down voltage and multiplies current up to 500 A or higher at sub-volt levels.
The sub-microsecond transient response of the VTM eliminates dynamic voltage sag during steep processor computational load steps, eliminating massive output decoupling capacitor banks around high-density processing sockets.
Sub-volt outputs delivering currents over 500 A with sub-microsecond response to dynamic load transients.
NBM Bidirectional Non-Isolated Bus Converters
We supply Vicor NBM (Non-isolated Bus Converter Module) bidirectional DC-DC converters engineered for high-efficiency bridging between 48 VDC and 12 VDC power rails.
Models such as NBM2317 and NBM6135 weigh merely 12 grams yet deliver continuous output power up to 800–1,000 W and secondary continuous current up to 60 A.
NBM converters are widely deployed in mild hybrid and electric vehicle dual-voltage architectures, supercomputing infrastructure, and cloud data center servers seeking seamless interoperability between legacy 12 V hardware and high-efficiency 48 V power distribution.
Featuring a fixed conversion ratio of K = 1/4, ultra-low output impedance, and peak efficiency reaching 97.9%, they eliminate the need for heavy, inefficient multi-phase buck converters.
800–1,000 W output at up to 60 A continuous from a 12 g module. Bidirectional 48 V to 12 V bridge.
Maxi, Mini & Micro Industrial Brick Converters
We provide genuine Vicor industrial brick DC-DC converters encompassing Full-brick (Maxi series), Half-brick (Mini series), and Quarter-brick (Micro series) form factors.
Featuring an integral aluminum baseplate for conductive mounting, these encapsulated power modules represent the recognized global benchmark for harsh environments across railway rolling stock, power generation, defense avionics, radar systems, and marine engineering.
Converters accommodate standardized DC input rails (24, 28, 48, 72, 110, 150, 300, and 375 VDC) with power outputs ranging up to 600 W per module and stabilized voltage rails from 2 to 48 VDC.
Units are ruggedized against shock, vibration, and thermal extremes spanning -55 to +100 °C baseplate operation.
Up to 600 W output per module. Full, Half, and Quarter-brick standards rated from -55 to +100 °C baseplate.
Picor Cool-Power ZVS Point-of-Load Regulators
We supply Vicor Picor Cool-Power ZVS high-density point-of-load switching regulators utilizing Zero Voltage Switching architecture.
Integrating a high-frequency controller, low-loss MOSFET switches, and control telemetry within an ultra-compact SiP (System-in-Package) footprint, the family includes PI33xx buck regulators (8–36 V input), PI35xx high-voltage buck regulators (30–60 V input), and PI37xx buck-boost regulators.
By virtually eliminating switching losses, operational frequencies up to 1.5 MHz are realized, dramatically shrinking inductors and output filtering components.
Regulators deliver continuous load currents up to 22 A with efficiencies reaching 98%, supporting multi-phase paralleling for load currents exceeding 100 A.
Ultra-dense SiP packages (10×14 mm or 10×10 mm). Up to 22 A output per phase with 98% efficiency.
MegaPAC & FlatPAC Configurable AC-DC Power Systems
We supply multi-output configurable modular AC-DC power supply platforms including the Vicor MegaPAC, MicroPAC, and FlatPAC series.
Engineered as configurable chassis accepting slide-in ConverterPAC power modules, these platforms configure up to 20 independent, isolated DC outputs with user-defined voltages from 1 to 95 VDC.
Featuring universal AC inputs spanning 85–264 VAC with active power factor correction (PFC > 0.99), integrated surge suppression, and intelligent remote monitoring telemetry, MegaPAC platforms comply with rigorous medical safety (EN 60601) and industrial standards (EN 60950).
They are widely installed in semiconductor automated test equipment (ATE), precision lasers, medical diagnostics, and telecommunications headends.
Output power from 400 to 4,000 W. Up to 20 independent, user-configurable isolated DC outputs.
We supply Vicor Picor QuietPower active and passive electromagnetic interference (EMI) filters (QPI and MQPI series) together with FIAM and RAM front-end protection modules.
QuietPower filters achieve up to 60–80 dB attenuation of conducted differential-mode and common-mode noise across the critical 150 kHz to 30 MHz spectrum, ensuring full compliance with EN 55022 (CISPR22) Class B and military MIL-STD-461E/F standards.
Supplementary FIAM front-end modules protect downstream converters against severe voltage surges up to 250 V, limit inrush currents, and provide reverse polarity protection, while RAM modules supply hold-up energy storage during transient line dropouts in aerospace and railway systems.
Up to 60–80 dB noise attenuation meeting EN 55022 Class B and MIL-STD-461. Integrated transient protection.
