Cincom Kinematics: Sliding Headstock and Synchronous Guide Bushing

In Cincom Swiss-type lathes, the headstock moves along the Z-axis, feeding raw bar stock through a stationary or synchronous rotary guide bushing. Cutting tools engage within 1–2 mm of the guide bush support point, eliminating bar deflection.

This kinematic layout guarantees exceptional roundness, runout tolerances, and fine surface finishes on long parts without auxiliary steady rests. For short parts, many Cincom models can be operated in guide-bushless mode to minimize bar remnant length.

Citizen patented Low Frequency Vibration (LFV) cutting oscillates the tool servo axes in micro-steps synchronized with spindle rotation. The phase shift between successive rotations creates periodic zero-thickness chip intervals.

Built-in Motor Spindles and ISO P4 Precision Bearings
