Sasol is an international chemicals and energy group. This catalogue focuses on Sasol Chemicals industrial raw materials: waxes, surfactants, alcohols, solvents, polymers and inorganic materials. Sasol products and grades
SASOLWAX H1, C80 and C105 hard waxes — Synthetic Fischer–Tropsch waxes for polymer compounds, adhesives and coatings. Published congealing ranges are 96–100 °C for H1, 80–85 °C for C80 and 102–108 °C for C105. Specify grade, form and viscosity; drop melting point is a separate property.
SASOLWAX Spray 30 and Spray 105 micronized waxes — Ink additives for abrasion resistance and slip. Sprayed Spray 30 and Spray 105 list D50 ≤7 µm and D90 ≤14 µm. Ground G variants have different size distributions, so include the complete grade suffix.
SASOLWAX 303, IW3F and TEKNIWAX 40B blends — SASOLWAX 303 targets cosmetic formulations, IW3F polishes and TEKNIWAX 40B fertiliser coatings. The separate medium-wax range includes SASOLWAX M5. Select by application, thermal properties and supply form.
SASOBIT, SASOBIT LC and SASOBIT REDUX asphalt additives — Materials for warm-mix asphalt and workability. REDUX differs from SASOBIT and LC in its effect on binder stiffness. State bitumen type, mix formulation and operating temperature range; validate dosage in the intended formulation.
NAFOL and NACOL linear fatty alcohols — Raw materials for personal-care and technical formulations, including emolliency, thickening and emulsion stabilisation. Specify carbon cut, single alcohol or blend, hydroxyl value and melting range. Confirm feedstock origin and documents for the selected grade.
LIAL, ALCHEM, ISALCHEM and LIALCHEM oxo alcohols — LIAL combines linear and branched primary alcohols; ALCHEM is linear, ISALCHEM branched and LIALCHEM customised blends. These are feedstocks for surfactants and alcohol derivatives. Specify chain distribution, branching and downstream reaction requirements.
ISOFOL 12, 16, 18 and 20 Guerbet alcohols — Saturated branched alcohols for emolliency, solvency and pigment wetting. ISOFOL 20 corresponds to Octyldodecanol and ISOFOL 16 to Hexyldecanol. Provide the full grade, INCI/CAS and formulation limits; different chain lengths are not direct substitutes.
NOVELUTION, ANIODAC, NONIDAC and PLURODAC surfactants — The coatings catalogue includes ANIODAC 11P7-27, NONIDAC 11P30-70, PLURODAC F68 and NOVELUTION 350. Different chemistries address emulsion polymerisation, wetting and stabilisation. Specify ionic character, active content, foam behaviour and system compatibility.
MARLON linear alkylbenzene sulfonates — LAS feedstocks for household and industrial detergents. The range covers acid form, liquid and paste salts, powders and water-free grades. Distinguish acid from neutralised salt and specify active content and required form.
MARLINAT 242/28 and 242/70 SLES — Sodium Laureth Sulfate anionic surfactants for shampoos, gels and detergents. The catalogue lists 28% active matter for 242/28 and 70% for 242/70. M and C suffixes identify separate variants; retain the complete code and specify impurity and preservation requirements.
LIPOXOL polyethylene glycols — Polyethylene glycols for detergents, ingredient dispersion, tablet compaction and fabric care. Select by molecular weight, viscosity and physical form. Technical, cosmetic and pharmaceutical enquiries need separate confirmation of the required quality grade.
CARINEX SL and LIVINEX SL biosurfactants — Sophorolipid surfactants: CARINEX SL for personal care and LIVINEX SL for cleaning. CARINEX SL L and SL A are listed as 60%-active types with different foam behaviour. Specify type, active matter and formulation requirements; verify certificates for the selected item.
NPA, IPA, NBA and IBA industrial alcohols — N-propanol and isopropanol, plus n-butanol and isobutanol in the C4 range, serve as solvents and intermediates. Specify isomer, purity, water and application. Identify EP grades separately; an industrial grade is not automatically pharmacopoeial.
Ethyl acetate and propyl acetate — Solvents for coatings, adhesives and printing inks. The catalogue lists ethyl acetate at 99.80% mass purity and propyl acetate at 99.50%. Confirm water, acidity, residue limits and documentation suitable for the destination.
Ketone solvents: acetone, MEK and MIBK — Separate solvents for coatings, inks, adhesives and chemical synthesis. MEK is methyl ethyl ketone; MIBK is methyl isobutyl ketone. State compound/CAS, purity, water and process limits. Solvent blends require their own specification.
OXYSOL BGE and butyl diglycol ethers — Butyl glycol ether, butyl diglycol ether and related materials for waterborne coatings, inks and cleaning. Similar names do not mean equal volatility or solvency. State CAS, the required boiling specification and water limit.
C5–C6, C7–C8 and C9–C11 normal paraffins — Hydrocarbon cuts for solvents, coatings and process media. Select by carbon distribution, boiling range, flash point and aromatic limits. Regional availability is confirmed for each cut during the enquiry.
LPA 142, LPA 170 and LPA 210 isoparaffinic solvents — Hydrotreated isoparaffin/naphthene mixtures with different cuts and flash points. Provide viscosity, boiling range, odour constraints and application. The generic description is insufficient to establish grade interchangeability.
Alpha-olefins: 1-pentene, 1-hexene and 1-octene — Chemical intermediates and comonomers. Hexene serves HDPE/LLDPE; octene also serves plastomers, elastomers and PAO. Polymerisation enquiries need purity, isomer distribution and limits for catalyst-sensitive impurities.
Acrylic acid, ethyl acrylate and butyl acrylate — Monomers for polymers, waterborne acrylic emulsions, coatings and adhesives. The catalogue distinguishes flocculant-grade acrylic acid. Specify quality grade, inhibitor specification, water and SDS-based packaging and handling requirements.
PURAL and CATAPAL alumina hydrates — Boehmite, pseudoboehmite and bayerite for catalyst supports and binders. Examples include PURAL SB, TH, BT and CATAPAL A/B/D. Select by phase, BET area, pore volume and particle size; dry powder and dispersion are different items.
PURALOX and CATALOX activated aluminas — SBa, SCCa, SCFa and high-porosity TH/TM/HP ranges for catalyst materials. The catalogue distinguishes gamma, delta and theta Al2O3. Specify phase, BET, porosity, particle distribution and thermal requirements.
DISPERAL and DISPAL dispersible boehmites — Powders and sols for sol-gel ceramics, coatings, rheology and catalysis. DISPERAL P2 is listed as water-dispersible and HP14/7 as alkaline-dispersible. Define medium, pH, solids and particle size in the dispersed state.
CERALOX high-purity alumina — Alpha and gamma Al2O3 for technical ceramics, polishing and specialty coatings. The table lists APA 0.5 at 99.96% purity and AHPA 0.5 at 99.995%, with separate RTP and MgO variants. Retain suffixes and confirm phase, impurities and D50.
SIRAL, SIRALOX and PURAL MG modified oxides — Silica-alumina materials, Mg-Al systems and La-, Zr- or Ce-modified PURALOX tailor catalyst-support properties. Specify composition, dopant, phase, acid/base behaviour, BET and pore volume.
Polypropylene homopolymers and impact copolymers — HHR102, HMR040, HNR100 and other homopolymers serve moulding and extrusion; CHR440, CMR348 and CMR648 belong to the separate impact range. Specify MFR test conditions, stiffness, impact strength and process. Food-contact suitability is grade-specific.
LDPE and LLDPE polyethylene — LDPE LF2103, LF2207, LF2220 and LM1920 cover film, blow moulding and compounding depending on grade. hLLDPE includes HF2020, HF2110 and rotational grades HR3935/HR3935U. Specify MFI, density, antiblock, slip and UV additives; preserve the U suffix.
S7106 and S6721 PVC resins — PVC feedstocks for calendering, extrusion and moulding as specified by the formulation. Published K-values are 71 for S7106 and 67 for S6721. Specify apparent density, plasticiser absorption and application; medical suitability is not assumed.
Sasol calcined and green coke — Calcined coke serves graphite materials, electrodes and refractories. Uncalcined GREEN COKE is a separate feedstock for metallurgy and SiC production. Specify fixed carbon, sulphur, ash, volatile matter, density and size fraction.
SASFROTH and NOVELFROTH flotation frothers — Mineral-processing reagents include SASFROTH 40 and SASFROTH 5. Formulations differ; specify ore, water, flotation conditions and froth requirements. Establish dosage and replacement of the current reagent through process trials.
Selecting a material
For waxes, distinguish congealing from drop melting point; for polymers, state MFR/MFI with test conditions; for aluminas, define phase, BET and particle size. Published values support selection; order requirements belong in the specification. A similar name, CAS or main substance alone does not establish grade equivalence.
