LFS / Liquid Filtration Systems Coolant Filters & Cartridge Housings
Engineered filtration elements and industrial vessels by LFS / Liquid Filtration Systems for machine tool coolant purification and process fluid circulation.
LFS / Liquid Filtration Systems String Wound Filter Cartridges
LFS Wound depth filter elements are manufactured on automated winding machinery with progressive yarn density. Diamond shaped apertures narrow toward the core, delivering particulate retention throughout the entire depth and extending cycle life in machine tool coolant.
- Selectivity ratings ranging from 0.5 to 150 microns for process liquid lines
- Winding yarn options including clean polypropylene, natural cotton, and nylon
- Standard cartridge nominal lengths spanning from 9.75 inches up to 60 inches
- Internal support core fabricated from polypropylene or AISI 304/316 stainless
LFS / Liquid Filtration Systems Meltblown Depth Filter Cartridges
LFS Meltblown filter cartridges are produced from thermally bonded polypropylene microfibers. A graded three-layer stereoscopic matrix captures machining swarf and solid debris throughout the media depth, maintaining stable flow in machine tool cutting fluid circuits.
- Three-dimensional graded pore architecture featuring porosity exceeding 75%
- Filtration retention spectrum spanning from 0.5 microns to 150 microns rating
- Outer element diameters from 60 to 110 mm accommodating large format housings
- Operating fluid thermal limit up to 55 deg C and 80 deg C with central core
LFS / Liquid Filtration Systems Pleated Membrane Filter Cartridges
LFS Pleated filter cartridges feature extended active media surface area and low differential pressure loss. Configured for fine clarification of cutting fluids, machine coolants, and industrial rinses, these elements maintain clean flow across prolonged service runs.
- Pleated geometry providing expansive effective filtration surface media area
- Membrane selections including polypropylene, glass fiber, PES, and pure PTFE
- Thermal fusion welding assembly without adhesives, resins, or chemical glues
- Broad chemical compatibility across alkaline coolants and process liquids
LFS / Liquid Filtration Systems High Flow Industrial Cartridges
LFS High Flow large diameter 6-inch filter cartridges process flow rates up to 80 cubic meters per hour per single element. Inside-to-outside fluid flow retains machining sediment inside the interior cavity, preventing downstream recontamination during cartridge swaps.
- High throughput capacity reaching up to 80 cubic meters of liquid per hour
- Inside-to-outside flow orientation trapping particulate inside the core body
- Element lengths available in 20, 40, and 60 inch nominal industrial formats
- Integrated ergonomic handle and positive O-ring sealing for quick swap-out
LFS / Liquid Filtration Systems Cartridge & Bag Filter Housings
LFS industrial filter vessels are constructed from corrosion-resistant polymers PP, PE, PVDF and stainless steel AISI 304/316L. Accommodating from 1 to 120 cartridges or up to 14 filter bags, these housings operate at pressures up to 10 bar in coolant filtration loops.
- Vessel capacity accommodating from 1 to 120 filter elements or 14 bag units
- Polypropylene, polyethylene, PVDF, and AISI 304/316L structural alloy grades
- Rated working system pressure of 6 and 10 bar at 40 degrees Celsius fluid temp
- Flanged ANSI/DIN or threaded BSP/NPT port interfaces for piping connections
LFS / Liquid Filtration Systems Cartridge End Adaptors & Sealing Rings
LFS end fitting adaptors and hardware are produced in an in-house injection molding department. Precise thermal fusion welding of DOE, Code 3, Code 7, and Code 8 connections ensures leak-tight sealing inside machine tool coolant filtration bowls and manifold assemblies.
- End configurations including flat gasket DOE, Code 2, Code 3, Code 7, Code 8
- O-ring sealing materials including EPDM, FKM Viton, silicone, and PTFE jacket
- Direct thermal fusion bonding without adhesive sealants or chemical bonding
- Precision molding from pure virgin polypropylene ensuring stable dimensions
Selection of LFS replacement filter elements by coolant chemistry
When specifying LFS filter elements for machining centers and grinding systems, chemical compatibility and operating fluid viscosity dictate media selection.
For water-soluble emulsions and semi-synthetic cutting fluids with neutral or mildly alkaline pH, wound polypropylene cartridges or meltblown elements provide optimum particle retention.
For high-viscosity neat cutting oils or aggressive cleaning baths, thermally bonded polyester or woven nylon media maintain mechanical fiber integrity at temperatures reaching eighty degrees Celsius without softening or shedding fibers into downstream high-pressure tool nozzles.
Differential pressure monitoring and element replacement intervals
System efficiency depends on routine pressure monitoring across the LFS filter housing assembly. A fresh cartridge typically introduces a clean pressure drop of 0.1 to 0.2 bar depending on fluid viscosity and pump delivery rate.
As machining swarf and particulate accumulate, differential pressure increases steadily. A differential pressure reading of 1.5 to 1.8 bar indicates the recommended replacement threshold.
Operating beyond this limit risks channeling through the media matrix, core deformation, and reduced coolant volume delivered to critical cutting interfaces.
Cartridge adaptor compatibility and vessel sealing integrity
Tight sealing of LFS filter elements prevents bypass of unconditioned coolant into high-pressure spindle circuits. Standard DOE configurations with flat elastomeric gaskets rely on axial compression from the vessel cover spring assembly.
For applications subject to pulsation or higher line pressure, Code 7 adaptors with dual radial O-rings and locking bayonet tabs provide positive mechanical retention.
O-ring elastomer grades are matched to liquid properties: standard EPDM for water-miscible fluids and FKM Viton for mineral-based machining lubricants.
Maintenance procedures for polymer and stainless steel filter vessels
LFS filter vessels molded from polypropylene, polyethylene, and PVDF eliminate galvanic corrosion while requiring disciplined tightening torque on flanged and threaded ports.
Prior to opening the vessel for servicing, operators must vent internal pressure through the top air valve and drain sediment through the bottom outlet. Internal bowl surfaces should be cleaned with non-abrasive wipers and approved detergent solutions to maintain smooth polymer walls.
Support baskets and hold-down plates should be inspected periodically for seal integrity.
Coolant filtration strategies for precision grinding and honing operations
In surface, cylindrical, and centerless grinding operations targeting tight finish tolerances, coolant must remain free of abrasive grit and micro-fines.
A two-stage LFS filtration architecture provides the highest reliability: primary stage wound or bag units rated at 20 to 50 microns remove coarse swarf, followed by secondary stage pleated cartridges rated at 1 to 5 microns.
This arrangement prevents workpiece scratching, minimizes surface burning, and substantially reduces diamond wheel dressing frequency on CNC production grinders.
Benefits of High Flow cartridge architectures in centralized coolant loops
In centralized workshop coolant systems supplying multiple CNC machine tools, conventional 2.5-inch diameter cartridges require bulky multi-element vessels.
Transitioning to LFS High Flow 6-inch cartridges reduces the total number of required elements by a factor of ten to fifteen while maintaining throughput across hundreds of cubic meters per hour.
Inside-to-outside flow trapping simplifies spent element disposal, minimizes technician contact with wet swarf, and cuts machine downtime during scheduled production maintenance.
