Identify the existing gearbox
Send a clear photograph of the complete nameplate, together with views of the input, output and mounting arrangement. Keep the full designation, including suffixes and any separate motor plate. State the quantity and whether the enquiry concerns a complete replacement or an individual component.
A photograph of the installed assembly helps connect the written code with the actual layout.
If some characters are unreadable, copy them exactly as seen and mark the uncertain part. Add the machine drawing or maintenance list when available. For several drives, check each plate separately before combining the quantities. Similar housings can belong to different configurations.
SpareX can then organise the enquiry by model and assembly position and request the missing dimensions against a specific drawing.
FCNDK worm gearbox configurations
The manufacturer lists single-stage FCNDK ratios of 5–100 and double-stage ratios of 100–5000, with an input power range of 0.06–15 kW. These are family ranges. The selected unit still needs its own model, mounting arrangement and operating conditions.
Include the motor data and required machine speed rather than selecting a gearbox from the ratio alone.
For a worm and wheel enquiry, identify the assembly drawing and item numbers. State whether a matched pair or a separate listed component is required. Photographs and controlled measurements are useful when a part number is missing.
If replacing the complete gearbox is also an option, request it as a separate line so that the component enquiry and the assembled drive have clearly defined scopes.
FR in-line and FK bevel helical drives
FR is the in-line helical family. The official list gives ratios from 3.83 to 229.71. Preserve the exact ratio on the existing plate when preparing a replacement enquiry. Attach the motor specification, output connection and mounting drawing.
The position of the gearbox within the machine matters as much as the short family name.
FK is the helical bevel family and includes IEC and NEMA motor adapter variants. If the customer keeps an existing motor, identify its flange and shaft connection explicitly. Motor power alone does not establish a matching adapter.
Separate the gearbox, adapter and retained motor in the equipment schedule. An installation drawing lets the project engineer compare the proposed configuration with the available space before confirming the order.
FS helical worm and FF parallel shaft units
The official catalogue identifies FS helical worm gearboxes and FF parallel shaft reducers as separate families. Start with the arrangement of the shafts and the connection to the driven machine. Provide an overall view and a drawing of the installation envelope.
A general photograph helps with orientation, while dimensions must come from a drawing or a controlled measurement.
For FF, specify whether the enquiry requires an integral motor or an adapter for a motor already used by the customer. For FS, likewise distinguish the complete drive from the mechanical unit being replaced. List any output connection and mounting accessories separately.
Changes to the position of a motor or support should be checked by the engineer responsible for the machine as part of the overall installation.
SMR shaft mounted enquiries
FIXEDSTAR lists SMR ratios of 5, 13, 15 and 20. For a shaft mounted replacement, also provide the machine shaft connection, housing restraint and input drive arrangement. Photograph the mounting and identify the full designation.
Keep SMR and SMRY codes exactly as written in the equipment documents rather than treating the names as interchangeable.
If the enquiry includes a bush, pulley or other attachment, give it a separate schedule entry. State which parts remain on the customer machine and which belong in the requested assembly. For an installed conveyor, include the running direction and any additional devices already fitted.
A marked assembly drawing is especially useful when the replacement component has no readable number of its own.
Solar tracking drive projects
The manufacturer has a separate solar tracking gearbox category and describes single and double drive options. Define the tracker type, movement, loads and environmental conditions in the project specification. Keep the mechanical drive designation separate from the motor and control equipment.
Performance requirements should refer to the selected model and its engineering documents.
For an existing installation, send photographs of the mounting points, output connection and any retained drive components. Identify the units that differ between tracker positions. For a new project, provide numerical requirements for motion and load holding from the designer.
This gives the enquiry a specific configuration and avoids transferring the properties of one tracker arrangement to another simply because both use a solar drive.
Center pivot irrigation gearboxes
The center pivot section lists a wheel drive gearbox with a ratio of 52:1. A replacement enquiry should include the machine identification as well as the gearbox plate. Add views of the wheel assembly and the input connection.
The ratio helps identify the requirement, while the mounting and connection dimensions establish whether a proposed configuration fits the machine.
For multiple drive positions, list each model and quantity separately. If the gearbox has been removed, photograph both sides and state the units used in measurements. Ask the maintenance specialist to assess adjacent shafts and fixings.
A complete gearbox and individual replacement parts should be quoted as distinct alternatives, each linked to the relevant assembly drawing and installation position.
Prepare a component schedule
Use one line for each part, with its description, part number or drawing position, gearbox model and quantity. Seal markings, bearing references and photographs can help verify a component against the assembly documents.
They are starting information for selection and do not automatically establish the required material or execution. Keep the entire drawing page so its title and revision remain visible.
Separate required items from components that still need investigation. Do not combine similarly named parts from different gearboxes until their references have been checked. If a complete replacement is considered, place it in a separate equipment line.
The customer can then compare what the assembled option includes, which connections are needed and what stays on the existing machine without an ambiguous mixed list.
Describe duty and installation conditions
Give the machine application, operating duration, starts, reversals and load pattern. Identify shock loads, outdoor exposure, cleaning and ambient conditions when relevant to the project. Attach the customer load calculation if one exists.
Motor power is one input to the selection, alongside mounting, machine requirements and the actual drive configuration.
Maintenance information must come from the documents for the specific unit. Do not change lubrication on the basis of a general family description. If the enquiry follows leakage, unusual noise or heating, describe the observations and previous work without assuming which component failed.
This helps distinguish a parts enquiry from a machine diagnosis and gives the responsible engineer clearer information for deciding the next step.
Confirm the equipment scope
The request form accepts a model description and supporting nameplate, drawing or item list. Define whether the drive includes the motor, adapter, output connection and fixing parts. For an export project, also provide destination, equipment schedule and packing requirements.
SpareX can organise the requested assemblies and components as separate lines for technical clarification.
Before confirming the order, the customer should compare the proposed designation, quantity, connections and assembly scope against the machine documentation. Identify the chosen alternative when both a complete unit and replacement parts were considered.
If the requirement changes, send one revised schedule with the updated positions clearly marked. This keeps the project configuration traceable through enquiry, technical review and preparation of the shipment.
